Justin Verlander strikes out nine in his last start of 2015

Justin Verlander (SP - HOU)

Justin Verlander pitched six innings on Saturday, and surrendered two earned runs on five hits while giving up one walk and striking out nine. He was not in line for a decision in the 4-3 loss, even before Neftali Feliz blew the save. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact
Verlander completed a pretty remarkable season, as he struggled out of the gate but rebounded in a big way. I do not know if many thought a rebound was possible for the 32-year-old, due to the possibility of him being finished because of massive workloads in previous seasons. However, after starting his season with a horrible June and a poor July, Verlander turned it on. He got his velocity back, flirted with a no-hitter, and put together three solid months. Over the final three months, he did not have an individual month's ERA higher than 3.27 and recorded a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 78:20.
