Daniel Susac leads Giants backup catcher competition
by Bruno Mulé | Giants Correspondent | Tue, Mar 10th 3:04pm EDT
Originally drafted by the Athletics with the 19th overall pick in 2022, Susac was left unprotected ahead of December's Rule 5 Draft, where the Twins selected him fourth overall before shipping him to San Francisco. He has yet to appear in the big leagues, but through eight Cactus League games he's slashing .350/.381/.450 with two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI across 21 plate appearances. (Maria Guardado)
Fantasy Impact:
Susac enters that spring performance as the favorite to claim the backup job behind Patrick Bailey, with Eric Haase and Jesus Rodriguez also competing for the spot. He posted a 26.8 percent strikeout rate at Triple-A Las Vegas last season, and plate discipline remains an area of focus heading into 2026.
