In eight seasons pitching for Hiroshima of the Japan Central League, Maeda went 97-67 with a 2.49 ERA, 1.048 WHIP and 1,233 strikeouts in 1,509 innings. His fastball sits in the 87-92 mph range, but it's his control of the slider, changeup and curveball that make him deadly. He also possesses a two-seam sinking fastball.
