Cole Hamels fired seven innings of shutout baseball to lead the Texas Rangers to a 3-0 blanking of the Oakland A's on Friday. The win gave the Rangers their second straight AL West championship. Hamels, who struggled his last time out, was on target most of the evening, allowing just six hits while walking two and striking out seven.

Hamels improved to 15-5 with the win, but more importantly, gave the Rangers a solid start - something that hasn't been happening a lot for the starters lately. He will most likely have one more start before the playoffs begin.
