Jim Johnson signs 2-yr contract extension with Braves

Jim Johnson (RP - FA)

Braves scribe David O'Brien states it best, "Johnson had a 3.11 ERA and 19 saves in 64 appearances this season before Sunday, with 66 strikeouts and 20 walks in 63 2/3 innings. He thrived after moving from a setup role back to full-time closer in the second half of the season, following the early season trade of Jason Grilli and a later injury to rookie Arodys Vizcaino." O'Brien also notes that Johnson's veteran presence is appreciated and valued highly by the team. (David O'Brien/AJC)

Fantasy Impact
Johnson is slated to start 2017 as the Braves closer and should be considered for a roster spot on fantasy teams. The Braves have built excitement around their rebuild and should be more competitive next year.
