Corbin Martin can't escape first inning on Friday
RHP Corbin Martin took the loss on Friday when he allowed four runs on three hits with two walks over 1/3 of an inning as the Diamondbacks lost to the Padres 11-5.
This was a rough outing for Martin, who didn't even make it out of the first inning. He served up home runs to Tommy Pham and Fernando Tatis Jr. to start things off before loading the bases. He got one out with a sacrifice fly and walked another batter to load the bases again before getting yanked. He was replaced by Riley Smith, who allowed one of the inherited runners to score. Martin has a disastrous 10.69 ERA, 2.31 WHIP, and 13:14 K/BB ratio over 16 innings (five games, three starts) on the season. He's slated to face the Cardinals on the road in his next turn but it's TBD if Arizona will roll him out there given his struggles.
