Caleb Martin totaled 22 points (9-18 FG, 1-4 3PT, 3-3 FT), seven rebounds, and three assists in the Heat’s 112-97 loss to the Nets.

Fantasy Impact:

Martin scored 22.0 points in the Heat’s loss to the Nets, making this his best scoring performance this season. He is streaky in his production but has historically demonstrated some upside when afforded at least 25.0 minutes of playing time. November was his best month of production last season, but what he was able to do in the postseason last May against the Celtics could fuel growing intrigue amongst those looking to add more depth and upside to their roster rotation in response to this performance. In that series, he averaged 35.7 minutes, 19.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.6 blocks, and 0.9 steals per game, shooting 60.2 percent from the floor and 48.9 percent from beyond the arc. Unfortunately, all that production disappeared as the Nuggets nearly swept the squad in the Finals. Could this be the beginning of a production tear for Martin? If so, possibly yes, and possibly no. If he is given the opportunity to sustain meaningful minutes, there is a chance he could become a viable streaming option for your lineups; however, his odds of producing at a consistent and comprehensive rate could be less than ideal. Martin could be worth acquiring in deep league play; anything more could prove to be too risky at this point. A wait-and-see approach could be the best way to approach his fantasy consideration. Martin could be a viable play in daily formats as part of a stars-and-scrubs lineup, especially if he can get some consistent run. He has a usage rate of 28.1 percent, a plus-minus of -0.3, and is averaging 20.4 minutes, 7.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 34.4 percent from the floor and 24.0 percent from beyond the arc.
