Sleepers and Busts
The trade for Julio has it's pros and cons for Brown. The pro is he'll see more single coverage and room to operate underneath with Julio serving as a deep threat. The Titans offense should go to another level which means more TDs. The con is less targets. Julio's veteran presence should help Brown develop his route running and overall professionalism. He commands respect in the locker room. A.J. Brown will only improve under Julio's mentoring. He's set for another good year. That said, make no mistake. Julio is the #1 WR on Tennessee, not Brown.Metcalf is a budding superstar. My comp is Terrell Owens. He's big, physical, and fast. And he's only going to get better with his route running. The third year for WRs is when most of them make a huge jump. This is year three for Metcalf.
Tim Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
The addition of Julio Jones opposite of A.J. Brown is a boost for his outlook. The Titans have been a funnel offense the past two seasons and their promotion of their TE coach to OC tells us that the plan is to remain true to what has worked. With the vacated targets of WR Corey Davis and TE Jonnu Smith vacated, there will be more than enough work to go around for everyone to feast. It will also open up space for Brown to work against more 1-on-1 coverage, which he can beat at any moment. The icing on the cake is the True Throw Value king himself, Ryan Tannehill, delivering passes. The True Throw Value (a BRoto Fantasy Exclusive Stat that measures a QB's fantasy efficiency through the air) king was wildly efficient yet again last season, finishing third overall for his second top-3 and third top-6 finish in as many years.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Brown is a stud, plain and simple. He's defied the rule of regression and continues to blow the roof off normal projections. Based on the targets he saw last year and where on the field he saw them, he was supposed to finish as the No. 30 wide receiver. That's the opportunity he had. Well, he finished as the No. 12 wide receiver. The year before that, he was supposed to finish as the No. 49 wide receiver but finished No. 15 instead. The addition of Julio Jones will certainly limit his target ceiling, but based on what we've seen to this point, his efficiency should carry him to new heights in 2021.When Metcalf came into the NFL, he was considered a "raw" prospect who had plenty of room to grow as a route runner. He's not only lived up to expectations, but has started to exceed them, finishing as a WR2 or better in 50 percent of his games in 2020, which ranked 13th among wide receivers, so the consistency was much better in year two. Then you get his "boom" performances that carry him to the next level, which is why he finished as the WR7 in half-PPR formats. Tied to Russell Wilson as his No. 1 target, Metcalf is one of the safest bets as a top-12 wide receiver.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Incredible memes and Olympic sprinting trials aside, Metcalf had an outstanding season last year. He ranked just 14th at the wide receiver position in targets with 124 and 17th in receptions with 83, but he totaled 1,303 yards with 10 touchdowns. Metcalf's combination of size and speed makes him nearly impossible to cover on deep passes. In fact, according to Pro Football Focus, he leads the NFL in deep receptions (receptions on balls that traveled 20 or more yards in the air), yards, and touchdowns against single coverage. The Seahawks likely will continue to lean into the run, and the addition of D'Wayne Eskridge may take away some targets, but don't overthink it. Metcalf is a locked-in WR1 for fantasy with little downside.
John Hesterman
Dynasty League Football
The addition of Julio Jones may slightly cap AJB's seasonal projection, but by a slim margin. Brown has feasted on efficiency and should continue to do so. He is still and elite option worth of a top-five pick for upcoming redraft leagues.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
While AJ Brown may no longer get the 180+ targets we were hoping for from him this season, he's still a top-tier fantasy option after the addition of Julio Jones. Brown moved down a couple of spots in my rankings, but he's still a top-10 receiver and should see plenty of work. This offense is going to be incredibly fun to watch in 2021 and adding Brown to your fantasy roster might be too good to pass up, no matter his price tag. My Updated Very Early Projection: 83-1203-11 receiving.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Those massive target totals just took a huge hit with Julio Jones arriving
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Brown had 212.5 fantasy points in 14 games last year and he has established himself as one of the best deep threats in the NFL. He is a great WR1 in an offense that opens itself up to big plays downfield with Derrick Henry's rushing ability.Metcalf had a great year last year, but the one downside was he had only 44.9 fantasy points in his last five games. That is a big reason there will be a new offensive coordinator there in 2021 and Metcalf should be a WR1 again in 2021, but probably not at the level he was in the first half of the 2020 season.
