Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Hall is returning from the dreaded torn ACL injury. Most folks need two full years after surgery to feel close to 100%. It's difficult for athletes to come back the following year after having reconstructive knee surgery. How did J.K. Dobbins and Odell Beckham do last year? Exactly. Adrian Peterson is the exception, not the rule. At a minimum, even if Hall plays week one, it's unlikely the Jets give him a full workload. They'll probably put him on a snap count. It doesn't even factor in the possibility that Breece could be put on the PUP list and miss the first six games to start the season. Just like Billy Beane with his Moneyball strategy, I like to play the percentages. Could Hall be the exception to the rule? Sure he could. I hope he (and all players) make a quick and full recovery. But the odds say to pass on players coming back from a torn ACL the following season. Do I care if I draft Breece Hall for his name value? No. I do not. I care that my players are on the field scoring TDs a lot. Now, what we might be able to do is recreate Hall's stats in the aggregate......RBs Zonovan "Bam" Knight & Israel Abanikanda. Who? Exactly. Those guys sound like Mark Ringo sleeper picks already haha! Bottom line- I can't afford Hall's current ADP at RB 12. It's too risky given the odds he's facing. Coming this summer to a fantasy football website near you. Mark Ringo stars in.....Ringoball! Bust | Najee Harris had a rough 2022. The Steelers offensive line struggled and he injured his foot in August. Despite those issues, he still finished as the 12th-ranked RB. There are reasons for fantasy owners to be optimistic in 2023. Harris should be healthy. That's always a good thing when entering the season. In addition, the Steelers upgraded their offensive line. They signed Isaac Seumalo and drafted OT Broderick Jones and TE Darnell Washington. All three should help improve the Steelers' blocking. The biggest concern is at QB. Can Kenny Pickett be the franchise QB the Steelers desperately need? He wasn't rated high by scouts in what was considered a weak draft for QBs. For the Steelers' offense and Harris to reach their potential, both need Pickett to take the next step. Najee's ADP is currently at RB 13. That's about fair value. However, if Pickett improves I guess you could say Najee could be a "steal" on draft day. (They're the Steelers, you'd be stealing him in drafts. No? Nothing? Haha! ) On the flip side, if Pickett is worse than my lame jokes, Najee owners could be in real trouble haha! -Najee Ringo |
Brandon Funston The Athletic | 2022 top rookie RB pick looked the part before Week 7 ACL injury - 7th in half-PPR PPG at RB - Early reports indicate he'll be ready for Week 1 | Drop from No. 4 RB in 2021 to No. 14 RB in 2022 almost entirely the fault of receiving decline (33 fewer catches, 238 less recYds) |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | Without the injury, Hall may very well have ranked in Round 1 . For now, he's on the RB1 border til we get health updates -- Zonovan, Carter here to ensure the team doesn't rush it (which means a slow start should be expected | 5/5: Line beefed up considerably with Broderick Jones + also Issac Seumalo & Nate Herbig (former Eagles), no competition added, fresh off a Top-5 finish to 2023, w could see Workhorse Najee re-emerge within a better overall offense. Sign me back up Finally looked healthy down 2022 stretch (was RB5 over last 10), could be huge rebound candidate. Hate that Matt Canada is back. |
Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | There's no denying that Breece Hall possesses the talent to be one of the best running backs in the NFL after a stellar rookie season that was unfortunately cut short by a torn ACL. The Jets' first-year running back was the RB6 in half-PPR points per game in just seven games played (15.4). He averaged 5.8 yards per carry as a rusher and ranked fourth in yards after contact per attempt (4.13) before his season-ending knee injury. Hall also ranked fourth in RB receiving yards while posting an elite 34.4% target rate per route run. The only hesitance with drafting Hall stems from his October ACL injury that can keep guys off the field for nine to 12 months. Although the latest reports suggest that Hall is progressing faster than expected and the team believes he could be ready for training camp. Just do whatever you can to get this guy on your fantasy team. | The Pittsburgh Steelers running back took a slight step backward in his second season, falling to RB14 in points per game after a top-5 fantasy season as a rookie. However, his usage metrics were still very strong across the board. Harris still operated as a pseudo-workhorse ranking 6th in opportunity share (70%) and 8th in total touches through the first 17 weeks of the season. Harris also improved drastically after the team's bye week operating as the RB7 in points per game over the last 9 weeks of the season. After tallying zero games with 20 carries through the first 8 weeks, Harris totaled 5 games with 20-plus carries during the second half of 2022. Should the Steelers undergo an offensive surge in Kenny Pickett's second season with a drastically improved offensive line, Harris could easily get back into the top-tier fantasy RB tier. |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | The reports on Hall is that his recovery from ACL surgery is going well and he expects to be ready for training camp. Every injury report in January seems to read this way, we won't know until we reach training camp. Hall had 463 yards rushing, 218 yards receiving, and 8 TDs in 7 games last year. If he can avoid the PUP list and see action early, he should be a high-end RB2 to low-end RB1 with tons of upside. | Harris was not an efficient back last year, averaging just 3.8 yards per carry and 5.5 yards receiving behind one a weak offensive line. Harris tallied 954 yards rushing, 219 yards receiving, and 9 TDs in the fantasy season. The Steelers improved their line in the NFL Draft and if Kenny Pickett takes a step forward in his second year, Harris should be a low-end RB1. |
Tera Roberts Dynasty Vipers | Health was an issue in 2022. Harris had a strong finish to the season and will bounce back in 2023 at full health and pay off for where he's drafted. |
