FantasyPros
Barkley is the consensus 1.1 pick for a reason; he is the most talented running back to enter the league since Adrian Peterson and perhaps even Barry Sanders. With that said, he plays behind one of the league's worst offensive lines and teams may stack the box more often with Beckham now in Cleveland. Still yet, Saquon dominated last year despite the rest of the offense struggling, plus he is game script proof.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
Saquon's a transcendent talent at the running back position. He's in an incredible position this season to exceed 2,000 total yards again and that New York Giants offense is going to run through him. He should be the 1.01 in every draft this season.CMC proved last year that he can be a workhorse back at the NFL level and I expect nothing less from him this season. If Newton's shoulder is completely healed, this Panthers offense has the potential to be dynamic and CMC will be at the center of it. Expect huge reception numbers yet again from McCaffrey!
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Barkley is an absolute freak. He has a 96th percentile bench press, a 97th percentile burst score, a 99th percentile height adjusted speed score, a 99th percentile SPARQ-x score, and is one of the best receiving backs in the league. He can take any play to the house, and can save even his poor fantasy performances with his receiving upside. He ran for over 1,300 yards and 15 total TD's last season, averaging 5.0 YPC on one of the worst offenses in football. Oh, and he also caught 91 balls. The only concern with Barkley is that his YPC is likely to regress this season. He had 16 carries for 641 yards on runs of 20+ yards. While this is one of his strengths, you can't expct him to rush for that many yards on long runs each season. Even with that being said though, I'm cool taking him anywhere in your draft. His role in this offense is as secure as they come, as he's going to push for the RB lead in both receptions and TD'sCMC is going to be a stud yet again this season. The former 4th overall pick now has 187 receptions over his first two seasons, including 107 last season. He also showed that he can produce in the TD department with 13 total TD's. There are two main knocks I have with him. One is the rushing yardage. He's a great RB, but he doesn't have the same sort of rushing yard upside as some of the other RB's do. The second is the TD's. The 13 TD's were great, but 12 of them occured in weeks 7-13. That means that he had just one total TD in weeks 1/2/3/4/5/6/14/15/16. I'm not saying that he can't post more consistend numbers, but I trust the TD production of Kamara and Barkley just a little bit more. With all this being said, the dude is going to have 80+ receptions, and he's going to be involved every aspect of the offense. He needs to be taken in the top 5 of drafts.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Phenomenally versatile game-breaker (21 combined runs/receptions of 20+ yards most at RB), but team context could hurt him (loss of OBJ, potential for Daniel Jones to be allowed to cut his teeth with a handful of starts, etc)There's been talk that CAR might try to scale back workload after CMC's 326 touches in '18 (finishing as the No. 3 RB in half PPR scoring), but the team certainly hasn't backed up its RB position (CAP and rookie Jordan Scarlett) in a manner that indicates that is truly the plan
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
During his rookie season, while playing behind a shoddy offensive line and in a low-scoring offense, Barkley overcame all odds and delivered a fantasy MVP-worthy performance. He finished as an RB1 in 75 percent of his games, while hitting at least RB2 numbers in 93.8 percent of his games. Some are excited about his target possibilities with Odell Beckham Jr. gone, but it's likely going to bring more attention to him and the run-game. Still, Barkley showed last year that he's able to overcome a lot, making him a safe top-three selection in every format.McCaffrey blew up in 2018 and it's got everyone reaching for him as a top-three selection in 2019. It's fair and you shouldn't shy away from the three-down back, but you should know that the Panthers have openly talked about scaling back his workload. He's still likely to finish as a top-five option at the position even if he loses 4-6 touches per game, as he's gamescript-proof and it's not as if Cam Newton is rushing for as many touchdowns as he used to.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Barkley was 2nd in fantasy points by running backs in his rookie season and he should continue to his ascent towards becoming the best running back in the NFL.McCaffrey was the 3rd ranked running back in fantasy football last year and he is one of the best duel-threat running backs in the NFL.
