Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Unfortunately, for football fans, the debut of 100% healthy Jameson Williams has been delayed. Williams is suspended for the first six games because he violated the NFL's betting policy. This is a big blow to his fantasy prospects for 2023, but not a death blow. When Williams finally arrives, he has star potential. He's big 6'1" 190 lbs. and fast 4.39 in the forty. He's more explosive than any rookie WR this year. Williams torched SEC defenses, including the National Champion Georgia Bulldogs who had one of the best defenses in college history. The Lions figure to be in plenty of shootouts. Most fantasy analysts have Amon Ra St. Brown as the Lions' defacto #1 WR and go-to guy, but I think they're wrong. It's Williams who is the most talented WR in Detroit. Any time he touches the ball, Williams is a threat to take it the distance. I guess you could say I'm rolling the dice with Jameson Williams in 2023. And if you get Calvin Ridley too you could parlay that into a fantasy title. Haha! Just a little betting humor folks haha! No? Nothing? Well, one thing is for sure, Ringo's jokes are always a good bet to be terrible haha! Kidding aside- Jameson Williams is a potential league winner. Sleeper Ringo's comp- Jameson Williams reminds me of a poor man's Randy Moss. That's a major compliment. He's that explosive.
Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | Probably my biggest riser this offseason has been Christian Watson. There have been no notable facts that have led to this increase, instead basing it on the "it just makes sense" theory. Think about it, he was thought to be an explosive prospect and proved just that in his rookie season. He is now the clear top receiving option, competing with two rookie tight ends and fifth-rounder and fellow sophomore Romeo Doubs. Plus, he has already developed some chemistry with Jordan Love and possesses the upside that can win you a matchup on any given week. You are also betting on Jordan Love here, but Watson could easily surpass his current ADP value.
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 5/24: Lots of talk of that Watson's route tree is already growing big in camp and LaFleur is expecting huge things. I'm in love with Round 4 Watson 3/19: Lazard gone, Cobb likely to follow. Even with QB turnover, Love should be fine & Watson could command 140+ targets Absolute freak finished as a Top-6 WR once he became a starter. Love should be solid enough to keep the ceiling sky-high here | 5/8: Facing an 8 game suspension due to gambling. He still drips in breakout potential, but Williams is displaying the bone-headedness that will quickly get him out of a coaching staff's favor. Plus Jahmyr Gibbs should eat into target share, too. Think he could be breaking leagues as early as next year |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | Christian Watson was the talk of the town after blowing up the Senior Bowl and combine last year. Worries about Watson began to mount for many in camp and during the early part of the season as he dealt with nagging injuries. Once healthy, Watson proved that the cream does rise to the top. He emerged as the Packers' clear number-one wideout. Watson ranked 14th in open rate (per ESPN analytics), 12th in yards per route run, and third in fantasy points per route run. He was fourth in YAC per reception behind only Deebo Samuel, Rondale Moore, and Jaylen Waddle (minimum 50 targets, per PFF). Watson is a strong WR2 that has huge WR1 upside. | Don't lose faith in Jameson Williams. Despite his six-game suspension, Williams remains an extremely talented wide receiver entering his sophomore season with a mountain of upside. Williams was placed in bubble wrap in 2022 by the Detroit Lions, who valued being careful with their blazing-fast rookie coming off a major injury (ACL tear). Assuming Williams is good to go for 2023, he's still the same player that ranked 13th in yards per route run among all FBS wide receivers in 2021 (minimum 50 targets). Williams could be the number two option in this passing attack when he returns behind only Amon-Ra St. Brown. Williams is a WR4 that could crush his ADP in 2023. |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Watson had 36 receptions for 507 yards and 7 TDs in his rookie campaign, which saw him battle injuries early in the year and not take on a prominent role in the offense until Week 10. Watson should be a WR2 with WR1 upside in 2023. |
