Hail to Fantasy Football
I have him and Mahomes as my 1A and 1B QBs this year, but they're pretty low in my overall rankings...which means I probably won't get either in fantasy drafts this year.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
What Jackson did in 2019 was remarkable on many levels, though many are expecting regression in 2020. Rightfully so, as he threw a touchdown on 9.0 percent of his pass attempts, which ranks 15th all-time, and ahead of Patrick Mahomes' 8.6 percent in 2018. If we dial that back to a managable 5.0 percent, Jackson would've thrown 20 touchdown passes instead of the 36 he did, which would result in 64 less fantasy points. That still would've been the No. 1 quarterback. And then you still have to factor in that he may have some positive regression with rushing touchdowns, as he rushed for 1,206 yards but scored just seven rushing touchdowns, which are worth more than passing touchdowns. By comparison, Josh Allen scored nine rushing touchdowns in 2019 while rushing for just 510 yards. Jackson will regress in passing touchdowns, but he might make up for it with a few more rushing touchdowns. If he stays healthy for all 16 games, he's a lock for top-two quarterback production. He might have the best starting trio in the NFL after the Cowboys snagged CeeDee Lamb at No. 17 overall. We all knew they needed a third wide receiver to play in three-wide sets, but no one thought Lamb would fall to them. The Cowboys are going to find a way to lock him into a long-term contract, and it'd be wise to do it before he explodes statistically. Prescott is the best fantasy quarterback not named Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
The Ravens offense was hyper efficient last season, so regression is certainly expected, but that does not mean Lamar Jackson takes a big step back. I still think he ends as an overall top 3 QB, but am not currently drafting at ADP.Coop, Gallup, Lamb and Zeke. Ridiculous supporting cast and his ADP finally matches his production.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Dak had less rushing yards than Murray, Wilson, and Allen last season - all QBs that are being drafted around him - yet still had the most fantasy points of the bunch. With the added weapon of Ceedee Lamb around him and HC Mike McCarthy bringing over an offense that utilizes 3-WR sets very often, Dak is lined up for another successful fantasy season. His ceiling may not be as high as those around him, but he certainly has the highest floor.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Jackson not only led the league in touchdown passes with 36, but he also ran for 1,206 yards. If he does not run as much this year, it may put him behind Mahomes, but these two are in an elite class by themselves.Prescott had 4,902 yards passing and 30 passing touchdowns in 2019 and he will be motivated to show that the Cowboys made a mistake by not giving him a long-term deal.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Jackson's going to have an absurd price tag this draft season, but the crazy thing is...he actually might be worth it. Jackson's rushing ability is a cheat code at the QB position and he has the potential to single-handedly win you a week because of it. Jackson should be off the board as either the first or second QB drafted.Dak finished as the QB2 last year for fantasy and the Cowboys just added CeeDee Lamb to this offense. Dak's a solid candidate to finish within the top-5 again in 2020.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
Went back to look at QB TD rates of QBs that rush for 700+ yards a season to see if maybe he'd be somewhat exempt from TD regression. Nope. An AVG TD rate of 4.67%. Lamar was at 9% in 2019. Regression is coming. It seems impossible to imagine it right now but we don't need our feet held to the fire for 2020 because of 2019.So the Cowboys ranked 28th in dropped passes on offense and Dak still threw for 4900 and 30 while getting younger and more athletic at WR and TE over the offseason? 1 Dak please
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Produced greatest FAN PPG season by a QB in NFL history - could have thrown 10 less TD passes, rushed for 500 fewer yards yet still finished No. 1 QB in FAN PPGNo. 2 QB in FAN PTS in 2019 gets richer with rookie WR CD Lamb - M. McCarthy offenses have ranked in NFL's top half in pass attempts 10 of 13 seasons as head coach
Ben Rolfe
The Touchdown
In 4-point per passing touchdown format, Jackson is the clear number one thanks to his increased usage of his legs to make plays over both Mahomes and Watson
Elliot Berkovits
Pack to the Future
Looking at Jackson's ability to run the ball and now his growing passing arsenal with weapons like Marquise Brown, Mark Andrews, and rookie Devin Duvernay. Barring injury, Lamar should finish QB1 once again and it shouldn't be close.Prescott is coming off a career year where he finished 2nd overall at QB. His team added Mike McCarthy, a pass-heavy coach as well as in many people's opinions the best WR in the class, CeeDee Lamb. With Zeke, Cooper, Gallup, Lamb, and McCarthy calling plays, Dak could be an MVP contender.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
After his historic 2019, Jackson has a lot of regression coming, but that's not to say he won't be amazing again in the future. He still has a massive amount of upside and no matter how often the Ravens insist Lamar will rush less moving forward, that's not going to entirely disappear from his game. I also don't believe his passing efficiency will remain at the same extraordinary level, he just doesn't have the arm talent or the weapons. Hence he's a lower floor option compared to Mahomes and I'm slotting him in as my QB2. Please don't reach for him in drafts as there's exceptional depth at QB this year.Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys' fabulous four makes it really hard to dislike Dak in fantasy. He has massive upside with these elite receivers, but will ultimately be held back by a reworked O-line, questionable play-calling and the fact he's Dak Prescott. Dak is a talented player in the grand scheme of things but he just doesn't have the special talent of the truly great QBs and that, when combined with his questionable contract status, makes him a risky buy. Having said that, he's still young, was excellent last season, has a great injury record and has strong job security. Here's a random stat of warning to finish with: average points at home in 2019: 25.5, average points on the road in 2019: 19.7. He's tough to use every week so you may need a second QB, which isn't ideal for a guy you drafted so high.
