Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Cooper Kupp was originally in the S Tier of my 2023 WR rankings, but I moved him down in regard to concerns about Matthew Stafford's health. However, I still think Kupp will produce at an extremely high level if he and Stafford are healthy. Last year he led all WRs in points per game (18.4) while commanding the league's second-highest target share (31.3%) before his injury. | Nobody boasted a higher target share than Davante Adams in 2022. The ex-Packers WR showed the entire world he didn't need Aaron Rodgers, hanging a league-leading 32.3% target share while finishing third in fantasy points per game (16.8). He even showed that he could thrive without Derek Carr, catching 7 balls for 153 yards and 2 TDs in a Week 17 contest with Jarrett Stidham under center. The obvious concerns about Adams are his age (will be 31 in December) and how he will gel with injury-prone Jimmy Garoppolo as his new QB. But Adams showed zero signs of aging with the league's fifth-highest yards per route run (2.45) as PFF's second-highest graded WR. I also don't believe the fit with Jimmy G is as poor as many may lead on. Garoppolo is an accurate quarterback - 6th in completion rate last season - which should allow Adams to vacuum up targets and add yardage after the catch. I also fully expect any QB issues to be mitigated to some extent by sheer volume, as the depth chart is barren behind Adams and Jakobi Meyers for targets. Hunter Renfrow is expected to be traded or cut by June 1st. |
Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Last December here's what Michael Lombardi, former NFL executive said about Matthew Stafford's health on his podcast, "The GM Shuffle". "There's a good chance, I would say better than 70% that Matthew Stafford doesn't play next year. I have a sense that...it's more than a hunch, it's talking to people in the league that maybe Stafford's body is breaking down." After seeing that statement from Michael Lombardi, unless those opinions have changed, the thought of drafting or ranking ANY Rams offensive player high scares the living hell out of me. Lombardi is pretty dialed in when it comes to news in the league. I said it last year because I was concerned about his elbow and I'll say it again in 2023, if Stafford breaks down, the Rams' offense falls off a cliff. And last time I checked, Cooper Kupp is a big part of the Rams' offense. Bust | Uh oh- there's trouble in Paradise. Paradise, Nevada that is haha! Raiders beat writer, Vic Tafur is reporting that Davante Adams isn't happy with the direction of the offense. Apparently, Adams wants the Raiders to attack downfield more. Instead, it sounds like they'll try and get the ball out quickly and focus on shorter patterns. This is presumably to protect QB Jimmy Garoppolo. The Raiders' offensive line is shaky at best. Jimmy G could be under a lot of pressure in 2023. Over the course of his career, Garoppolo has played a full season once. Once! And that was behind a good offensive line in San Francisco. He'll be more vulnerable in Vegas. And if anything happens to him it's Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O'Connell and this offense most likely goes bust. For those reasons, Adams current ADP of WR 6 is a little rich for me, despite Davante being one of the most talented WRs in the NFL. Bust Remember when in Vegas always bet on black...or as my devoted fans would say, against Mark Ringo's picks haha! You shouldn't make fun of Ringo's fantasy football picks. My grandmother made fun of my fantasy football picks once. Once! Haha! Danny Vermin Ringo |
Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | Give me a second to wipe the egg from my face. Kupp is outstanding, I'll admit I thought there was no way he could repeat his production from 2021, and he did just that before getting injured. With Matthew Stafford coming back and the team floundering to find other offensive weapons, Kupp is as locked and loaded as ever. Although he is my third WR, he deserves to be in the same conversation as the big two. | So I guess Brian Hoyer might be the only serviceable QB in Vegas? Poor Davante Adams, from watching his best friend get forced off the team to now being a veteran on a miserably managed team. However, we know Adams is if not one of, the best receivers in the game. If Hoyer being under center pushes into the mid-second, then I'll be grabbing him everwhere. |
Justin Herrera TSS Fantasy | He can do it with Aaron Rodgers and without Aaron Rodgers. He is the absolute best football receiver right now and has the route-running ability to adjust to Jimmy G's shortcomings.
Brandon Funston The Athletic | Returns from injury to pick where up he's left off in his past 26 games (220 catches, 2759 recYds, 23 TDs) | Numbers in Las Vegas looked like they did in GB, and it should be more of the same with QB switch from Carr to Jimmy G. |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | Despite the entire Rams' offense cratering around him last season, Cooper Kupp was on his way to another fantastic season before being shut down with a high ankle sprain. With the Rams out of the playoff picture and the team in shambles, Los Angeles put Kupp on the shelf. Kupp ranked third in target share (31.0%), fourth in target per route run rate (31.5%), and 12th in air yard share (34.5%). All of this culminated in another WR1 finish in fantasy points per game. With Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford returning for 2023, Kupp should be a top-three fantasy wideout again. | Davante Adams might be getting long in the tooth, but he showed no signs of slowing down last year. He finished with at least 100 receptions, 1,300 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns for the fourth time in the last five seasons. He led all wide receivers in target share (32.6%) while ranking fifth in air-yard share (39.4%) and eighth in fantasy points per route run. Adams should be a fine WR1 in 2023 despite the persistent worries about Jimmy Garoppolo's noodle arm hindering his performance. |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 3/17: Jimmy G acceptable, though unexciting. Pretty lateral to Carr.. which is AOK given Adams' beastly 2022 is still attainable. No real upgrade, or downgrade, IMO.
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | How many fantasy players could finish 21st among fantasy wide receivers, despite missing 7 games? That is what Kupp did in 2022, finishing with 75 receptions for 812 yards and 6 TDs in 9 fantasy games. Kupp had an ankle injury and was shutdown with the Rams out of contention. He should be ready to roll as an elite WR1 in 2023. | Adams was one of the bright spots for the Raiders, finishing with 95 receptions for 1,443 yards and 14 TDs. He should be an elite WR1, as long as the Raiders replace Derek Carr with a replacement level QB. |
