Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
What McLaurin has done with the list of QBs he's played with up to this point of his career is honestly incredible. No matter who has been throwing him the football, McLaurin has got the job done for fantasy football. Now with Fitz in town, who loves to lock onto his WR1 and funnel them targets, McLaurin could go nuclear in 2021. There are enough other receiving threats in this offense to keep defenses from double-teaming McLaurin and he'll beat single coverage all day long with his route-running ability. There are plenty of other names in the range of ADP where McLaurin is going that have an excellent chance of returning top-12 value, but McLaurin's the most enticing. There's a strong possibility that we look back at the end of the 2021 season and talk about McLaurin as a top-5 WR.I was the one pounding the drum for David Montgomery last season when he was being drafted as the 25th RB off the board. With that being said, in no way did I anticipate a top-5 finish! Despite a truly terrible offense, Montgomery produced for fantasy managers and helped deliver some titles with his dominant stretch to end the year. Unfortunately, we shouldn't be expecting that same level of dominance in 2021. Tarik Cohen will be back and healthy, which means a dramatic dip in receiving production for Montgomery. Additionally, Damien Williams was added to this backfield to take the Cordarrelle Patterson role, which will take some carries away too. Montgomery is still going to provide fantasy managers with a very safe floor week after week, but we need to temper our expectations for the young RB heading into this season. Fantasy players that draft Montgomery thinking that they're going to get 2020 production are most likely going to be disappointed. It's safe to view Montgomery as a mid-range RB2. My Very Early Projection: 249-1058-8 rushing & 31-238-1 receiving.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Despite playing with a mixture of Dwayne Haskins, Alex Smith, Kyle Allen, and Taylor Heinicke the last two years, McLaurin has managed to produce 2,037 yards and 11 touchdowns. While that's not enough to get into the WR1 conversation, maybe the addition of Ryan Fitzpatrick is. We've watched Fitzpatrick support many fantasy wide receivers throughout his years, and he's been willing to target them relentlessly. It's part of the reason we loved DeVante Parker when Fitzpatrick was under center in Miami. There are suddenly a lot of mouths to feed in Washington, but McLaurin is the clear-cut No. 1 option who should be targeted 140-plus times in 2021 en route to what might be his first top-12 finish.Sure, Montgomery finished as the RB4 last year. There were many factors that led to that, particularly the injury to Tarik Cohen, freeing up tons of targets in the passing game. Over the course of Montgomery's short career, he's played 19 games with Cohen and 12 games without him. In the games with Cohen, he averaged 2.32 targets per game. In the 12 games without him, that number rose to 4.92 targets per game. Well, Cohen is back, and the team signed Damien Williams, who's a better receiving back than Montgomery. On top of Cohen missing, the Bears had a ridiculously easy schedule down the stretch, playing against the Packers twice, Lions, Texans, Vikings, and Jaguars to close out the season. Did you know that Montgomery was the RB20 after 10 weeks (prior to starting that schedule)? He's a fine low-end RB2, but don't go about your day thinking you're getting a steal in the fourth round or anything.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Terry McLaurin had 180.3 fantasy points in 15 games, despite playing with a lot of ineffective quarterbacks. Ryan Fitzpatrick should help him be better on deep throws, but Fitzpatrick is a wild card at 38-years old.Montgomery had 237.8 fantasy points last year, but that was fueled by the final five games coming against teams that were in the Bottom-7 against fantasy running backs. I like Montgomery to be a solid running back in 2021, but I view him as more of a RB2 than an RB1 with Tarik Cohen coming back from injury.
Tim Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
There is three certainties in life: Death, Taxes and Ryan Fitzpatrick absolutely wearing out his number 1 receiver. Whether it was Devonte Parker in Miami, Mike Evans in Tampa Bay, Brandon Marshall in NY, Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins in Houston or even Stevie Johnson's 148 targets in 2012 in Buffalo, history shows that Fitzmagic loves to make footballs appear in his No. 1 WR's hands. This is excellent news for McLaurin, who has shown to be one of the most productive receivers in football despite the QB void Washington has has since drafting him. According to Matt Harmon's Reception Perception, McLaurin gets open at least three-quarters of the time against, man, zone and press coverage (respectively) while getting most of doubled 13% of the time (more than other clear top options on other teams including Allen Robinson and A.J. Brown. The bottom line is that McLaurin is a stud who has performed in spite of QB play. If Ryan Fitzpatrick can have the same success he's had the last 3 seasons, it could be a breakout year for the third-year budding superstar from Ohio State.
Mark Ringo
Sleepers and Busts
Things are looking up for Terry McLaurin. Washington brought in QB Ryan Fitzpatrick from Miami who isn't afraid the sling the rock around the field. He should provide an upgrade at QB. Alex Smith, bless his heart, was literally on his last legs and Dwayne Haskins was a bust. McLaurin still produced under that limited offense. He should take another step forward in 2021.The addition of OT Teven Jenkins in the draft helps bolster a Bears line that badly needed an upgrade. The scouting report on Jenkens is he is a mauler. Hopefully he can pass block too. Chicago also traded up to take a certain QB who played his college ball at THE Ohio State University, Justin Fields. Monty needs this offense to take a step forward and score some TDs for him to reach his potential. I'm still skeptical. After all this is the Bears we're talking about.
Joe Pisapia
FantasyPros
Terry McLaurin has been a victim of awful quarterback play over his short career. However, McLaurin has proven to be an excellent and consistent fantasy receiver regardless. Ryan Fitzpatrick is by far the best thrower of the football he's played with and McLaurin is poised for a career season. Consider him a low end WR1/high end WR2 this season.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
McLaurin is about to EXPLODE with Fitzmagic force-feeding him.*UPDATE* I do LOVE the Fields pick for this entire offense. No one finished hotter, but Montgomery preyed on weakest SOS and w/ no Cohen stealing work and now Damien Williams is here w/ Matt "Too Cute" Nagy returning to OC after Bill Lazor called the shots for DMont's explosion. Everything's stacking up ugly, besides Fields... which could offset it all.
