Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | Fantasy managers finally saw D.J. Moore escape Carolina's poor QB play, ironically as part of the move that led to them drafting Bryce Young. Now Moore finds himself in a familiar situation with an unproven passer on a team that wants to run the ball. Personally, I am not convinced of Fiedls' passing ability, leaving me skeptical that he can out produce what he was doing in Carolina. However, he has the talent that could allow Fields to lean on him weekly and steal all the teams' targets. | Probably my biggest riser this offseason has been Christian Watson. There have been no notable facts that have led to this increase, instead basing it on the "it just makes sense" theory. Think about it, he was thought to be an explosive prospect and proved just that in his rookie season. He is now the clear top receiving option, competing with two rookie tight ends and fifth-rounder and fellow sophomore Romeo Doubs. Plus, he has already developed some chemistry with Jordan Love and possesses the upside that can win you a matchup on any given week. You are also betting on Jordan Love here, but Watson could easily surpass his current ADP value. |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 3/17: Justin Fields is easily the best QB Moore has played with, especially on the deep ball. He could boom big now, especially if the Bears take to the air more often & follow the Jalen Hurts Model. | 5/24: Lots of talk of that Watson's route tree is already growing big in camp and LaFleur is expecting huge things. I'm in love with Round 4 Watson 3/19: Lazard gone, Cobb likely to follow. Even with QB turnover, Love should be fine & Watson could command 140+ targets Absolute freak finished as a Top-6 WR once he became a starter. Love should be solid enough to keep the ceiling sky-high here |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | The 2022 season was another sad year of D.J. Moore suffering through the "Allen Robinson" experience as one of the league's most talented receivers that's being held back by mediocre quarterback play. Moore was the WR33 in fantasy as he dealt with a target quality rating and catchable target rate outside of 90th among receivers. Moore still managed to rank 27th in PFF receiving grade and 32nd in yards per route run (minimum 50 targets per PFF). We witnessed his floor last season as Moore was 12th in target share (27.7%), 17th in target per route run rate (26.8%), and fourth in deep targets. Justin Fields will be the best passer that Moore has worked with to this point. While the target volume concerns are justified for Moore in Chicago's offense, he has already displayed the ability to earn targets at a high rate. If the Bears' passing volume surprises with the receiving upgrades this offseason, Moore will happily pay off his ADP. Moore is a low-end WR2/high-end WR3 in 2023 that could easily finish as a top-15 receiver. | Christian Watson was the talk of the town after blowing up the Senior Bowl and combine last year. Worries about Watson began to mount for many in camp and during the early part of the season as he dealt with nagging injuries. Once healthy, Watson proved that the cream does rise to the top. He emerged as the Packers' clear number-one wideout. Watson ranked 14th in open rate (per ESPN analytics), 12th in yards per route run, and third in fantasy points per route run. He was fourth in YAC per reception behind only Deebo Samuel, Rondale Moore, and Jaylen Waddle (minimum 50 targets, per PFF). Watson is a strong WR2 that has huge WR1 upside. |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | I thought Moore played very well, given his QB situation. He tallied 62 receptions on 114 targets for 878 yards and 7 TDs. He has a fresh start in Chicago and should be a WR2 with upside playing with Justin Fields. | Watson had 36 receptions for 507 yards and 7 TDs in his rookie campaign, which saw him battle injuries early in the year and not take on a prominent role in the offense until Week 10. Watson should be a WR2 with WR1 upside in 2023. |
