Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | Fantasy managers finally saw D.J. Moore escape Carolina's poor QB play, ironically as part of the move that led to them drafting Bryce Young. Now Moore finds himself in a familiar situation with an unproven passer on a team that wants to run the ball. Personally, I am not convinced of Fiedls' passing ability, leaving me skeptical that he can out produce what he was doing in Carolina. However, he has the talent that could allow Fields to lean on him weekly and steal all the teams' targets.
Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Unfortunately, for football fans, the debut of 100% healthy Jameson Williams has been delayed. Williams is suspended for the first six games because he violated the NFL's betting policy. This is a big blow to his fantasy prospects for 2023, but not a death blow. When Williams finally arrives, he has star potential. He's big 6'1" 190 lbs. and fast 4.39 in the forty. He's more explosive than any rookie WR this year. Williams torched SEC defenses, including the National Champion Georgia Bulldogs who had one of the best defenses in college history. The Lions figure to be in plenty of shootouts. Most fantasy analysts have Amon Ra St. Brown as the Lions' defacto #1 WR and go-to guy, but I think they're wrong. It's Williams who is the most talented WR in Detroit. Any time he touches the ball, Williams is a threat to take it the distance. I guess you could say I'm rolling the dice with Jameson Williams in 2023. And if you get Calvin Ridley too you could parlay that into a fantasy title. Haha! Just a little betting humor folks haha! No? Nothing? Well, one thing is for sure, Ringo's jokes are always a good bet to be terrible haha! Kidding aside- Jameson Williams is a potential league winner. Sleeper Ringo's comp- Jameson Williams reminds me of a poor man's Randy Moss. That's a major compliment. He's that explosive.
Derek Brown FantasyPros | The 2022 season was another sad year of D.J. Moore suffering through the "Allen Robinson" experience as one of the league's most talented receivers that's being held back by mediocre quarterback play. Moore was the WR33 in fantasy as he dealt with a target quality rating and catchable target rate outside of 90th among receivers. Moore still managed to rank 27th in PFF receiving grade and 32nd in yards per route run (minimum 50 targets per PFF). We witnessed his floor last season as Moore was 12th in target share (27.7%), 17th in target per route run rate (26.8%), and fourth in deep targets. Justin Fields will be the best passer that Moore has worked with to this point. While the target volume concerns are justified for Moore in Chicago's offense, he has already displayed the ability to earn targets at a high rate. If the Bears' passing volume surprises with the receiving upgrades this offseason, Moore will happily pay off his ADP. Moore is a low-end WR2/high-end WR3 in 2023 that could easily finish as a top-15 receiver. | Don't lose faith in Jameson Williams. Despite his six-game suspension, Williams remains an extremely talented wide receiver entering his sophomore season with a mountain of upside. Williams was placed in bubble wrap in 2022 by the Detroit Lions, who valued being careful with their blazing-fast rookie coming off a major injury (ACL tear). Assuming Williams is good to go for 2023, he's still the same player that ranked 13th in yards per route run among all FBS wide receivers in 2021 (minimum 50 targets). Williams could be the number two option in this passing attack when he returns behind only Amon-Ra St. Brown. Williams is a WR4 that could crush his ADP in 2023. |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 3/17: Justin Fields is easily the best QB Moore has played with, especially on the deep ball. He could boom big now, especially if the Bears take to the air more often & follow the Jalen Hurts Model. | 5/8: Facing an 8 game suspension due to gambling. He still drips in breakout potential, but Williams is displaying the bone-headedness that will quickly get him out of a coaching staff's favor. Plus Jahmyr Gibbs should eat into target share, too. Think he could be breaking leagues as early as next year |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | I thought Moore played very well, given his QB situation. He tallied 62 receptions on 114 targets for 878 yards and 7 TDs. He has a fresh start in Chicago and should be a WR2 with upside playing with Justin Fields. |
