Lineups
It's hard for me to grasp that more people aren't talking about D.J. Moore's phenomenal sophomore season. He had 87 catches for 1,175 yards and 4 touchdowns despite catching passes from a hobbled Cam Newton, Kyle Allen, and Will Grier. Now, Moore will benefit greatly from the introduction of Teddy Bridgewater as the new starting quarterback. The team's defense has also gotten worse since last year and will be starting several rookies, so game script should favor the passing game. Matt Rhule and Joe Brady will help scheme Moore open in creative ways and he's almost certainly due for positive touchdown regression. He's one of my favorite players for fantasy football this season, especially when you can draft him in the third or even fourth round.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Moore's essentially a lock for seeing over 130 targets again in 2020. While he might not put up high TD totals in this offense, he's going to be a PPR machine this season. As long as Moore can stay healthy, he'll return value on his current ADP.While I wasn't a huge fan of Allen's outlook to begin the offseason, the Mike Williams injury has forced me to adjust course. Allen will be THE main guy in this WR room to start the first part of the season and he should easily become Taylor's most trusted target. With that being said, that doesn't mean that I'm comfortable drafting Allen as a top-20 receiver. Right now, Allen lands at WR24 in my season long rankings.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
The departure of Devin Funchess prior to last season made Moore the undisputed No. 1 wideout in Carolina, and he emerged as the No. 2 target in the passing game behind running back Christian McCaffrey. Because of Moore's speed and versatility, the Panthers' new coaching regime will likely continue to use him on a wide variety of route concepts.Fantasy owners spent a two-year period starting in 2015 speculating about the numbers Allen would post if he could remain healthy for an entire season. The answer turned out to be in the neighborhood of 100 catches and 1,260 yards, which is roughly what Allen averaged over the past three seasons. Expect his 2020 production to suffer from the departure of QB Philip Rivers.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It really stinks that we may not get to see Moore play with a top-tier quarterback during his early years. He's an extremely good football player who's been stuck in a bad situation. He made the most of bad targets last year, finishing as the WR18 and delivering WR2 or better performances 60.0 percent of the time, which ranked eighth among wide receivers. Now another obstacle to cross. He'll have a new quarterback and a new head coach in 2020. The coach (Matt Rhule) also decided they needed to bring in Robby Anderson, a receiver who previously played under him, which could mean the targets get spread out a bit. The good news is that Bridgewater attempted a deep ball on just 7.1 percent of his pass attempts, which was the second-lowest rate in the NFL, and not an area where Moore operates. The talent is there for Moore to make a jump into WR1 status, but the situation doesn't seem ideal with virtually no offseason. He's best suited as a WR2 on fantasy teams, as top-24 should be his absolute floor.Did you know Allen hasn't topped six touchdowns in any of the last six seasons? That's despite Philip Rivers throwing at least 28 touchdowns in five of them. He's a phenomenal route runner, but not the go-up-and-get-it receiver you'll fall in love with in the red zone. The move to Tyrod Taylor is likely going to be a tough one for Allen, as Taylor will lack pass attempts in comparison to Rivers. Even if we were to say the Chargers threw the ball 500 times (Taylor's career-high is 437 attempts), that's still a massive decrease from the 597 times they threw the ball in 2019. Taking away 97-plus targets will be felt throughout the depth chart, especially when you don't score a lot of touchdowns. It does help that the Chargers receiving corps is very top heavy with Allen and Mike Williams, though. Still, it's likely there'll be less than 250 targets between the Chargers receivers, so Allen isn't getting close to the 149 targets he got in 2019. Realistically, he's likely to be in the 110-120 target range. That's still enough for low-end WR2/high-end WR3 numbers, but don't expect the same Allen whose been relied upon as a borderline WR1 anymore.
Frank Bonincontri
Fantasy Wire HQ
Teddy B. is not helping me keep DJ up this high in the rankingsHow scared are you with Tyrod throwing him the ball? What about with Herbert? Do WR1's drop off when the QB leaves? Only you can decide on draft day and im hoping someone else has selected him so I don't have to answer that!
Rob Wilson
The Fantasy Footballers
Moore brokeout last season, and should continue his ascendence into the top ten.The LAC offense should play at a slower pace, but Allen is an elite route runner. He could be a steal if they allow Tyrod to play at a faster tempo.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Former 1st round pick, D.J. Moore had a breakout season in 2019 and that was with Kyle Allen throwing him the ball. Now he has Teddy Bridgewater who looked terrific in New Orleans last year at QB. Moore could be the NFL's next star WR, the only concern I have is how long it will take for him and Bridgewater to build a connection due to COVID.Allen has always been known for his consistency, especially in PPR formats with Philip Rivers targeting him all game long. Now, for the first time, Allen will be catching passes from someone other than Rivers. That has me nervous about his overall 2020 outlook. He still has a shot at finishing as a WR2 but I don't see much upside for Allen in 2020.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Moore had 1,215 yards from scrimmage, but only 4 touchdowns in 2020. Teddy Bridgewater is the quarterback in Carolina this year, Moore should easily be their most targeted wide receiver.Allen had another strong, but inconsistent season with 1,215 yards from scrimmage and 6 touchdowns. I do not have a lot of hope for him if QB Tyrod Taylor remains the starter, that would make him a boom / bust WR3. Rookie Justin Herbert has a better arm than Taylor, but his inexperience would hurt Allen's value too.

DJ Moore averaged 16.4 PPG (seventh-most among WRs) in 14 healthy games last year. As a 22-year-old with Kyle Allen at QB. One of the best prospects in recent memory with a historic start to his career. Panthers won't throw as much, but they should still be high-volume. @JackMiller02

D.J. Moore had a very impressive sophomore season, proving he's the clear Panthers WR1. He should get even better in year 3 as he's still very young and the Panthers look like they'll be regularly chasing the game. In most circumstances you'd suggest a 1000 yard receiver should expect far more than 6 TDs in his first two seasons combined, but Moore is rarely a green zone target (only three targets inside the 10 last year) so he may just be a guy who doesn't score often. The addition of Robby Anderson is also reason for concern so I'd suggest using some caution, especially in non-PPR leagues. The upside is very high if everything kicks though.Keenan Allen has been extraordinarily consistent over the last three years, locked into 100 receptions, 1200 yards and 6 TDs. That was good enough for a WR8 finish in half-PPR last year but it was a down year for receivers. In 2020 he gets a new QB in Tyrod Taylor and possibly at some stage Justin Herbert. It's not clear exactly how this will affect Allen's volume but I'd suggest it won't make as much difference as many think. I anticipate a solid top 12 season, higher in PPR, with the upside for more if things really click. He's a great value pick as he's going as the WR20 late in the fourth round.

New QB Bridgewater won't accentuate Moore's verticals skills, but he should be heavily targeted, allowing him to put his ample Yards After Catch skills to work

Back to back years with under performance in the TDs. Despite that, he's still finished as a flex worthy, or better option, in .5ppr.Has always found a way to gobble up targets. Won't get a firm rank on him until a QB decision but appears to be a safe WR2. Has been on the verge of disappointing on his ADP multiple seasons, might just do it this year when he can't complain to Phil for targets, for a late season surge. Tyrod's leading WR stat line in CLE: 15 targets, 7/106 7 targets, 5/69 That concludes our sample haha. He's never had more than 3100 passing yards or 436 attempts in a season so someone is underperforming if Herbert doesn't step in, and then we're relying on a rookie QB, so...

Love the Joe Brady hire as OC. LSU's WRs dominated under his tutelage and usage, and Moore can expect more creative playcalling than ever before. But will Robby A's addition be more a positive (clearing space) or negative (target competition)?
