Hail to Fantasy Football
I still like him as a sleeper, but he could get off to a slow start if healthy and this could be a three-headed RBBC all year...
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Duke Johnson's pass-catching role is expected to be similar to what it's been in recent years, even with David Johnson having been acquired in a trade that sent DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona. Duke Johnson's fantasy upside is limited outside of PPR leagues.A small back, Henderson makes up for his lack of size with a sturdy build and exceptional balance. While Henderson is unlikely to handle a full workload following Todd Gurley's departure, he is expected to lead the Rams' backfield committee in 2020.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
It's frustrating how a back who consistently has amazing metrics in Duke Johnson continually falls behind mediocre runners like Carlos Hyde. That certainly won't change this year either, with David Johnson the clear lead back and likely to steal some receptions as well. If David stays healthy all season there's little chance Duke is even startable. If the injury-prone DJ goes down though, it could be open season for the former Brown. I like him as a handcuff and desperation PPR starter but little else as a borderline RB3 finish is likely in his future. Please don't fall for Darrell Henderson this time. I saw him go in the second round of redraft leagues at times last year which was insane even then. The guy isn't very good, he doesn't catch passes and this offense is nothing compared to what it used to be. At best he's a committee back with no passing down upside and little handcuff value. Hard pass.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Despite continually being one of the most efficient running backs in football, it seems there's no head coach who wants to give Johnson his shot at a bigger role. This will be his sixth season in the NFL and he's never topped 104 carries in a season despite the fact that he's averaged 4.5 yards per carry (4.91 over the last four years) over his career. Now having to deal with David Johnson, whose best attribute is catching passes out of the backfield, it's unlikely Duke has any value with David healthy. However, it needs to be stated that David has played just 22 full games over the last three years and will be 29 years old at the end of the season. Should he miss time, Duke might get the opportunity that we've been waiting for. Some Henderson truthers are dead-set on him being "the guy" in this offense, but the Rams selecting Cam Akers with their first pick in the draft is extremely worrisome. They used a second-round pick on Akers, while Henderson himself was taken with a third-round pick. I'm not willing to say that Henderson is completely out of contention, but his value took a blow in the draft. This is likely to be a timeshare backfield, making him a risky RB3 in redraft leagues.
Dalton Kates
APEX Fantasy Leagues
Great prospect who didn't see much playing time, but performed well in advanced metrics on those plays. Most efficient RB in college history and on a team where RB opportunity is available. It's likely Akers becomes the lead back, but Henderson can thrive in a sidekick role and produce game-breaking plays.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Hopes were high for Johnson when he arrived in Houston last year but he never managed to live up to expectations. Now, it looks like he'll be playing second fiddle once again with David Johnson coming in from Arizona. In PPR Johnson has some upside but he's unlikely to be a reliable starter.Last season Henderson had his opportunities to prove that he can be the next guy up and did not live up to expectations. Now, the Rams added rookie Cam Akers who looks more likely to handle the bulk of the workload leaving Henderson in as nothing more than a handcuff for now.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Johnson is a fine running back who is always efficient, and yet never earns a large role with his team. He took a back seat to Carlos Hyde last year and now has to contend with David Johnson, a far superior pass-catching back to Hyde. In other words, if Duke Johnson didn't carve out a big role last year, it's tough to see him carving out one this year. He's a high-end handcuff option, but don't expect him to have much independent value absent an injury to David Johnson.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
With the addition of David Johnson, there are a lot of unknowns here in Houston and this backfield. Duke should remain the pass-catching specialist, while David carries the ball primarily in-between the tackles. If we see David struggle again with injury though, Duke could be in line for a huge workload.Henderson was drafted in the 3rd round last year by the LA Rams, but he's currently on a free-fall drop in ADP due to the arrival of Cam Akers. Akers is an athletic RB prospect out of Florida State, but he lacks refinement in the key areas of the position. Akers is at his best in space, which leads me to think that the Rams may be more keen on using Akers as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. That would lead to Henderson being the predominant ball-carrier in between the tackles. Henderson is still going to be involved in this offense, so he's a value at his current ADP. However, he does not have an incredibly high ceiling with Akers' presence and a poor offensive line in front of him. He's a fine bench RB for your fantasy roster that you can plug in on bye weeks.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
They invested heavily in Henderson by trading up to 70 last year to get him. Hendo is arguably the most efficient college RB ever, was among the league's best in both yards created per carry & juke rate, Malcolm Brown has played 54 regular season G's & has less than 1000 yds. @DFFMemphis

David Johnson now overlaps his receiving role... ugh.
