Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | It's at the point where everyone needs to just accept that Amon-Ra St. Brown is elite for fantasy. He is a possession WR with top-tier route running and target share. Especially with their 2022 first-round pick Jamieson Williams being suspended for the first six games, St. Brown should start the season on fire. He is locked in as the top option on a potent offense that will frequently be playing from behind. It's the perfect recipe for fantasy, and you should feel good having him as your WR1 for 2023. | You can love Wilson, however, I struggle to have him any higher than WR-six. This is nothing on Wilson, I just view the top five to be rock solid and possess little risk. Although Wilson's situation couldn't be much better, there is always a risk when a new QB comes into town, even if it is Aaron Rodgers. Plus, we just saw Davante Adams cement himself as the best WR in the game with or without Rodgers. I think Wilson is great, but he'll need to rival Davante Adams' ability to supplant any of my top-five, and I'm not ready to give him that crown yet. |
Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Amon-Ra St. Brown is one of my other favorite targets in this range. I feel so comfortable pushing the draft button on him in Round 2 with zero hesitance to speak of. His 32% target rate per route run trailed only Tyreek Hill in 2022. The Lions also own a top-10 schedule for the entire season and through the first 6 weeks of the year. With no Jameson Williams and a slate of favorable defensive matchups, there will be no stopping the burn from the Sun God himself. Detroit is tied with Jacksonville with the most favorable strength of schedule for fantasy WRs this season. | From Day 1, Garrett Wilson was my favorite rookie WR from the 2022 class. The dude could get open at will and check off all the boxes as an early declare being selected inside the top 10. And he did not disappoint. The former Buckeye commanded a 53% target share in Week 18 to close out a rookie season with a 25% target share, 86% route participation and 146 targets (top-10), despite not being a full-time player until Week 8. WR22 overall and WR20 in expected points per game. Entering 2023, Wilson will have a major upgrade at quarterback with Aaron Rodgers under center. Last year in games started by non-Zach Wilson Jets QBs, Wilson averaged over 17 fantasy points, 6 catches, 11 targets, and 82 receiving yards per game. Top-10 fantasy WR numbers. If Rodgers can just be accurate throwing the ball (seems manageable), Wilson will crush it in 2023. No Jets QB completed more than 60% of their passes last season. Rodgers completed 64.6% of his passes last season, which was close to his career average (65.3%). Wilson is also a prime candidate to experience positive TD regression after finishing as just one of three WRs with 1,000 receiving yards to score fewer than 5 TDs. |
Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Amon Ra St. Brown continues to prove the doubters wrong. Unfortunately, because of that, he's no longer on sale. You're going to have to burn an early pick if you want him on your team. And that's the main concern I have- his price. Jameson Williams is suspended for the first six games. When he comes back, the former Alabama star WR could be a force to be reckoned with. He lit up the SEC. In addition to Williams, the Lions drafted Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorts. Gibbs is classified as a RB, but he's undersized to work between the tackles. It sounds like the Lions will use him at least some of the time as a WR. LaPorta is a TE known more for his receiving prowess than his blocking shops. All three of these newcomers will open things up for St. Brown, but they'll also steal plenty of targets that could have gone to him in the past. And even though he had a solid season, St. Brown still only had 6 TDs last year despite being the Lions defacto #1 WR. Jameson Williams could take over that role in 2023. The Lions should pass the ball a lot in 2023. The question is how will the pieces of the fantasy pie get divided? St. Brown's current ADP at WR 9 is a little too rich for me. | Wilson had 83 receptions and 100 yards in a very impressive rookie year. And that was with Joe Flacco, Mike White, and Zach Wilson at QB. Now he gets one of the best QBs to ever lace them up in Rodgers. The Jets didn't bring him over to hand the ball off. They want to pass it more. That should help improve all of Wilson's stats- including TDs where he only had 4 in 2022. The big question is, will the tackles be able to protect Rodgers? Duane Brown is getting up there and Mehki Becton has had injury issues. The Jets were leapfrogged in the draft by the Steelers for their first-round target, left tackle Broderick Jones. That could prove costly. However, Rodgers has time and can stay healthy, Wilson could put up a Davante Adams-like season. |
Brandon Funston The Athletic | Went from WR2 production as a rookie to Top 10 in 2nd year - avg. line of 7 catches, 77 recYds, 0.5 TDs in past 22 games | Hard not to be bullish about his prospects with A-Rod at QB after finishing rookie season as WR19 with Wilson/White/Flacco/Streveler at QB |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | Amon-Ra St. Brown proved that his sensational rookie season stretch run was no fluke as he stepped up as one of the best young wide receivers in the game. St. Brown finished as the WR10 in fantasy points per game, ranking 11th in target share, third in target per route run rate, eighth in red zone targets, and fourth in YAC. With only six total touchdowns, St. Brown could be even better in 2023 if the volume remains stable. After starting with seven red zone targets over his first four games, he only saw one red zone target over the next four weeks. Over his final nine games, he amassed 15 red zone targets. If that usage remains stable inside the 20 for 2023, St. Brown could easily be staring at a double-digit touchdown season and a top-five fantast wideout finish. | Garrett Wilson had a fantastic rookie season, underscored by his WR30 finish in fantasy points per game. Wilson was ninth in PFF receiving grade, 23rd in YAC per reception, and 25th in yards per route run (per PFF minimum 50 targets). Wilson was also 14th in receiving yards (1,103), 16th in receptions (83), and ninth in red zone targets. If his quarterback play improves in 2023, the sky is the limit. Wilson had to suffer through the sixth-most unrealized air yards, 93rd-ranked target quality, and 92nd-ranked catchable target rate. Wilson should be viewed as a WR2 with WR1 upside in 2023. |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 5/8: Aaron Rodgers has officially arrived. Of course, the Diva QB has ensured his old gaggle of weapons (Lazard, Cobb) has followed... still, with Eli Moore gone & a considerable talent-gap ahead of the next closest guy, Wilson could (should) be in line for an Adams-esque 180-200+ Targets. Yet, if he and Rodgers don't gel, we know Diva QB gets his way and freezes talents out. Oddly, Rodgers raises both the ceiling and lowers the floor all at once... but far more likely the ceiling hits. Jets are committed to a new QB, quite possibly Aaron Rodgers. There's very real Davante Adams-lite upside to this absolute stud. | |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | St. Brown had a great breakout season with 100 receptions for 1,112 yards and 6 TDs in 15 fantasy games. He should be poised for another WR1 year on a Lions offense that is on the ascent. | Wilson had 74 receptions for 1,014 yards, and 4 TDs as a rookie with one of the worst QB situations in the league. Wilson is a star in the making that could be poised for a breakout season if the Jets make an upgrade at the QB position. |
