| Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Chris Olave gets most of the love from fantasy analysts, but Juwan Johnson is the better red zone threat. He's bigger than Olave at 6'4" 231 lbs. Johnson is a converted WR who plays the move TE. He's a matchup problem for defenses, unlike teammate TE Foster Moreau who is more of a blocking specialist. The addition of Derek Carr should inject some life into the Saints' passing attack, especially now that the offensive line is healthy. Carr loved throwing to Darren Waller when he was on the Raiders. I look for a similar connection to develop in The Big Easy. And if WR Michael Thomas has a setback or misses significant time, Johnson could be in store for more targets and a career year. | Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 5/24: Crowded competition with Foster Moreau now here - might be tough to find any consistency. 3/13 - Resigned with Saints, where he was the TE8 and a TD Machine. Great spot to return to | 3/19: Ugh - Mike Gesicki signing here really saps both Henry & Gesicki -- they may be OK in Best Ball w/ decent spike week & TD upside but they undoubtedly will eat each other's cheese all year 3/13: Jonnu and Jakobi gone, Hunter Henry should be leaned up on even more in 2023 Bill O'Brien should utilize Henry much better in 2023 |
| Pat Fitzmaurice FantasyPros | Juwan Johnson finished TE11 in half-point PPR fantasy scoring last season after catching 42 passes for 508 yards and seven touchdowns. It was an impressive performance considering that the Saints slogged through 2022 with Andy Dalton as their quarterback for most of the year. The Saints didn't select any of the top tight ends from a loaded TE draft class, and they traded TE Adam Trautman to the Broncos, although they did sign TE Foster Moreau, who is recovering from Hodgkin's Lymphoma and reportedly plans to play in 2023. A former undrafted free agent, Johnson has been a diamond in the rough for the Saints and could provide more sneaky fantasy value in 2023. | After scoring nine touchdowns in 2021, Hunter Henry scored just two touchdowns in 2022 and finished TE21 in half-point PPR fantasy scoring. Now, he'll have to share TE targets with free-agent addition Mike Gesicki, who played for Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien at Penn State. Not counting the 2018 season, which he missed with a torn ACL, Henry has produced 500+ receiving yards in each of his last five seasons. |
