How good was Herbert's rookie season, really? Well, he finished with the most passing touchdowns in NFL history by a rookie QB ever with 31. He also finished with the second most passing yards in NFL history for a rookie QB - only behind Andrew Luck - with 4,336. Those are truly insane numbers for a player that was thrust into the starting job right before game two of the season and who was viewed as a bit of a developmental player coming out of Oregon. Heading into year two, Herbert has a new HC and OC above him and we're not exactly sure what to expect from him with this change. The track record for QBs entering year two and encountering a system change isn't exactly sparkling, but is Herbert just that good that it might not matter much for him? With the receiving weapons he has around him, we shouldn't be too concerned. He's still worth drafting as a top-10 QB in 2021.While Hurts was a solid addition to fantasy rosters off of the waiver wire last year due to his rushing ability, he didn't necessarily shine as a passer. With just a 52% completion rate and a 6:4 TD to INT ratio, Hurts is going to have to be sensational as a mobile QB this season to justify the hype that he's getting. While he has the talent to be very good on the ground and pick up rushing yards, NFL defenses are now going to be able to game plan for Hurts' skillset with an entire off-season to study tape. If defenses can work to limit his mobility and force him to beat them from the pocket, we could see his fantasy output take a hit. As a streaming QB, Hurts is worth taking the shot on to see if he can overcome these potential obstacles. His ADP has fluctuated throughout the off-season and it's settled around QB12 right now because of the Deshaun Watson rumors. This is a perfectly fine spot to take a shot on Hurts in your drafts to see if he can rise to the occasion as a passer. If he does - which is a strong leap of faith - then he has top-5 upside.

Herbert did an amazing job last year as a rookie learning the Chargers offense in a pandemic. He'll have to learn another one this year. Anthony Lynn is gone. Brandon Staley is the new head coach and his offensive coordinator, Joe Lombardi, comes over from the Saints. Expect a lot of short quick passes and a power running game. Herbert has the goods and the line is improved. Despite the challenge of learning a new offense, Herbert should still do well in 2021.Hurts was a surprise pick by the Eagles in 2020 draft. Maybe they knew something the rest of us didn't? One thing we do know is Hurts isn't the most accurate passer. Also, the word on the street is the Eagles are trying hard to trade for DeShaun Watson. That's the main concern I have with Jalen is the possibility they trade for Watson. In that scenario, Hurts probably gets moved in the deal and has to learn a new playbook in the summer or midseason which is even worse. Drafting Heisman Trophy winner Devonta Smith will help the offense big time. He'll add some sizzle to the Philly cheesesteak. What saves Jalen is his rushing yards. He could be up there with Lamar Jackson's rushing totals if he keeps running at that clip. That would make Hurts a sneaky good pick on draft day, if the Eagles keep him. That's a big if though. Hmnn...

Line improvements are HUGE. I like the Saints QB Coach as OC too - should be slinging.8/31 - Officially named the starter after the team constantly dodged it. Assuming this means no Watson, Hurts is now set up for an ultimate Konami season.

Herbert's sensational debut set rookie records in both 300-yard games (8) and TDs (31), and he did so despite working with a poor offensive line and questionable coaching decisions. It appears as if both those areas will receive an upgrade in '21. Herbert's production likely depends on it too. The 23-year-old's 75.4 passing grade under pressure (per PFF) was the highest ever for a rookie signal caller, but that stat isn't considered "sticky" season-to-season. Herbert might regress in this area, but an improved supporting cast keeps him as a firm QB1 in fantasy land.It doesn't really matter whether or not the Eagles are committed to Hurts after this season. He flashed explosive upside in his three full starts last year, finishing as the QB12, QB1, and QB12 in those outings. Similar to Lamar Jackson's rookie season, Hurts accomplished this by playing in an offensive structure that wasn't necessarily designed for him. Since the end of 2020 Philadelphia has brought in former running-mate and Heisman winner DeVonta Smith, in addition to retooling the offensive line. The konami code is in full effect with Hurts, who is yet another fantastic late-round QB option.

What Herbert did in 2020 was miraculous. There's no two ways about it. To be handed the starting job just one hour before the game in Week 2, then go on to break the rookie record for passing touchdowns (31) is ridiculous. Now, with that being said, he still finished as the QB9 last year while throwing 595 pass attempts, the fourth most in the legaue. Now that he's got a defensive-minded head coach and a healthy defense, we could see the pass attempts dip a bit in 2021, which would certainly hurt his appeal. The Chargers did increase the talent on the offensive line, but also replaced Hunter Henry with Jared Cook, which is a certainly a downgrade. Herbert should still be a solid low-end QB1, but it's tough to see him finishing as a top-five option in 2021.We saw a glimpse of what Hurts can bring to the table last year, though it was just a four-game sample size. He started four games for the Eagles, and each of those games netted at least 16.3 fantasy points, highlighting a floor that's hard to find. He also flashed upside with a 37.8-point outburst in Week 15 against the Cardinals. The downside is that it was a small sample size, and Hurts appeared to get worse every time out. Even then, it's still a small sample size. There's a new coaching staff, along with a new No. 1 receiver, but if what we saw from Hurts in 2020 was his floor, we're in for a treat in 2021. If he can hone in and improve his accuracy numbers from 2020, there's legitimate top-six quarterback upside.

It will be hard for Jalen Hurts to finish outside the top-eight fantasy QBs in 2021 even if he doesn't improve as a passer. Projected rushing over 17 games: 64 scrambles for 466 yds, 67 designed rush attempts for 335 yds, 5 TDs. That's 110 points before throwing a pass. @dwainmcfarland

Herbert had 342.8 fantasy points in his rookie year on a team that started (3-9) before winning their last four games. The sky is the limit for him and he should be an elite QB1 in his second season with a team that should be on the upswing.Hurts showed flashed of brilliance in his rookie year and has a lot of upside in his second year with Carson Wentz now in Indianapolis. The Eagles signing Joe Flacco should ensure Hurts is the unquestioned starter in 2021. He is a low-end QB1 with upside as a duel threat quarterback.

Justin Herbert set a rookie record for passing TDs (31), threw just ten picks, and crossed 4.3K yards on his way to Rookie of the Year honors. A new coaching staff, including a new OC, should be careful not to screw up a good thing. The new OC is Joe Lombardi, former QB coach of the Saints. Learning under Sean Payton and Drew Brees, expectations are high for Herbert and company. The expectations are a more "up-tempo" offense built around Herbert's strengths. Drafting Rashawn Slater goes a long way to helping improve an offensive line that struggled. With (8) 300-yard games, Herbert had some big days in 2020, but he also had some rookie moments. Suppose you draft Herbert, bid on a similar season to 2020, not necessarily upside for more. He's not as safe as some veterans like Russell Wilson, nor do I think he has the upside in startup dynasty leagues like Trevor Lawrence or Joe Burrow. But the 23-year-old QB was impressive enough year one to consider him a QB1 in 2021.I am a fan of Jalen Hurts, the quarterback. He bet on himself in college and won, then showed he could play at the NFL level in 2020. I am not, however, completely sold on Jalen Hurts, the fantasy quarterback, quite yet. His 38-point performance against the Cardinals rightfully excited a lot of fantasy analysts. But there were some less than stellar moments as well that folks are forgetting. His rushing upside is incredibly intriguing, but he still has a long way to go as a passer. People are also ignoring the Eagles offensive line that did not get markedly better year over year. Plus, it's a new HC, and that means a new playbook to learn and execute. I am not saying Hurts can't take his new toy DeVonta Smith and have himself a QB1 season. I am saying the risk of him finishing outside of the QB1 range is equally possible. Therefore, drafting ahead of proven entities like Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, etc., is unnecessary in a single QB format. In a Superflex league, the gamble becomes intriguing because you can easily team him up with one of those steadier veterans and enjoy the high ceiling games without the low floor contests costing you weeks. In dynasty leagues, Hurts needs to show himself to be the QB of the future for the Eagles, or Nick Sirianni may get to choose his guy in the 2022 draft.

After bursting on the scene his rookie season, Herbert is going to get his second playbook in as many seasons, but if we are judging future schemes based on coaching trees, that may end up being a good thing. Joe Lombardi was been the Saints QB coach for the last 5 seasons, working with Drew Brees and Sean Payton, and is the grandson of the guy they named the Super Bowl trophy after. Now, with an offense designed just for him, the talent that was clear last season might shine even brighter. He is still surrounded by incredible talent and an improved OLine as well.If the Texans didn't exist, the Eagles would be the model for franchise disfunction the past couple of seasons. The winner in the chaos is Jalen Hurts, who finds himself as the QB after taking over for the recently traded Carson Wentz in the last quarter of the season. Hurts will no doubt be asked to use his legs, which alone usually means at least moderate fantasy success, but how much can we trust his arm? Its hard to judge a guy in his rookie year called on to right a sinking ship, but either way, his 52% completion percentage leaves a whole lot to be desired. Add that to the unknown of new HC Nick Sirianni and offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, and Hurts' arm is a major wild card. His opportunities on the ground should give him a nice floor this season.
