Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Last year Dobbins was coming off reconstructive knee surgery. It didn't go well. He wasn't ready. This year should go better. His body has had time to heal. in addition, the Ravens' offense should be more explosive. A healthy Lamar Jackson along with newcomers Odell Beckham and Zay Flowers can all flat-out fly. They could propel Baltimore's offense to a whole new level. The con of Lamar is he doesn't throw it to his RBs much. He doesn't have to. Lamar is so elusive, he just takes off and runs. Jackson also vultures a few TDs. The other concern is Gus Edwards. He's 238 lbs. He had six TDs in 2020. He could vulture some too. Those factors limit Dobbins' upside. Currently, Dobbins's ADP at RB 18 is a bit high, but not outrageous considering the firepower Baltimore has. Remember, the J.K. either stands for just keep expectations reasonable or just keep telling those awful jokes Ringo haha! Probably the latter haha! | In a surprising move on draft day, the Lions traded Swift to the Eagles. That was not a good landing spot as far as his fantasy outlook is concerned. Swift is primarily known for his receiving chops. Unfortunately, mobile QBs like Jalen Hurts don't throw it to their RBs much. They don't have to. If they're under pressure, it's easier for them to just take off and run. In addition, Swift isn't a power RB. He'll wear down. Rashad Penny seems more suited for that role, although he's had issues staying on the field as well. Swift's current ADP at RB 26 seems very expensive for what looks like a bad fit in the City of Brotherly Love. Side note- The city of Philadelphia should have gotten insurance for the Liberty Bell like Kramer advised Jerry to do with his stereo. "It came that way in the mail. It's a write-off for them. They just write it off haha! " -Ringo Kramer |
Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | Despite only playing 22 full games in his three seasons in the league, Dobbins still has support from the fantasy community. He's a tough back to the project as the team is expected to be more reliant on the passing game, and Dobbins only has 25 career receptions. Even without his passing work, he is the lead back on a dynamic team. Despite Lamar Jackson potentially stealing goalline opportunities, he should see enough opportunity to be a steady RB-two for fantasy. | I'm higher than most on Swift and I'll accept that. Although the Eagles are not a team that likes to pass to their runningbacks, Swift goes from one top-tier O-line to another this offseason. He is also only competing with change of pace back Kenneth Gainwell and Rashaad Penny who they signed to a minimum deal. He may not have the top-five upside some hoped for last season, however, we just saw Miles Sanders (a less talented back) split touches and finish as the RB13 in 2022. With Swift's talent and ability, he could be an RB-one on this offense, however, the risk of his usage and injury pushes him down to low-end RB-two territory. |
Brandon Funston The Athletic | Just 8 games in 2022 coming off brutal knee injury, but he closed in exciting fashion, with 7.0 YPC and 100 yards per game in his final 4 contests | |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 5/5: No competition added, offense should be significantly more explosive w/ Todd Monken + Lamar back with new weaponry. Big big winner of the offseason after tearing it up, even though clearly not with his final gear, to close last season Bet he pushes for 2023 Comeback Player of the Year. Didn't have his full gear and STILL was dominant (elite vision) once he returned from injury. | 5/5: Perhaps no RB gained more value than D'Andre Swift on Draft Day, getting moved to the explosive Eagles attack. Sure, Jalen Hurts will always cap TD upside, but Swift could roam wild with defenses focused all over the place. I'm buying a rebound, big time. 3/17: David Montgomery is an even better version of Jamaal Williams. Perhaps a true 35-40% role would let Swift stay healthy and spry all year, and his most dangerous self. Still not buying at his price tag. 3/7: Combine talk emphasized an RBBC even if Jamaal leaves, but they really want JW back too. Despite insane explosiveness, Swift prob won't be unleashed while in DET (who knows if he could even handle it if he was). Jamaal Williams 2023 UFA... always will be committee bound but could unlock some ceiling |
Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Coming back from major knee surgery, J.K. Dobbins' 2022 season debut was delayed until Week 3. And he posted middling results, failing to surpass 50 rushing yards or 13 carries in any game with little receiving usage to speak of (6 targets). It was revealed that Dobbins needed another knee surgery after Week 6 and he was placed on IR until Week 14. It wasn't until Dobbins came back later in the year that fantasy managers got a glimpse of what the talented RB displayed as a rookie. The Ravens RB1 played in five games (including playoffs) averaging 6.6 yards per carry, 92 rushing yards, and 14 carries per game. Although he still split time with Gus Edwards - nearly identical carry totals in the Wild Card Round loss to the Bengals - and Dobbins' receiving usage remained obsolete with just 7 targets total to close out the year (5 of which came versus Cincinnati). | 2022 was another year of ultimate teasing by D'Andre Swift. The Lions running back came out of the gates red hot, but got hurt. And when he returned, the Lions refused to give him the featured role in the backfield, opting to use Jamaal Williams as their goal-line battering ram instead. Swift was still uber-efficient on a per-touch basis - fourth in fantasy points per touch, third in yards per carry, 23rd in points per game and 19th in yards after contact per attempt - but the lack of touchdowns and overall touches was soul-crushing. Swift seemed to never be 100% healthy at any point during the year, which likely influenced his reduced role. And Detroit's lack of willingness to get Swift involved was a sign of things to come as they would eventually trade him to the Philadelphia Eagles for a future Day 3 pick. With a full bill of health heading into 2023, Swift will again be productive on a per-touch basis in his new offense. But be warned that his injury history and draft capital spent on Swift guarantees him nothing under a new coaching staff in Philadelphia. Fantasy managers should also be aware that Swift and fellow newcomer Rashaad Penny are both solid rushers, posting identical success rates last season. Swift also won't be used as often in the passing game, after the Eagles finished dead last in RB target share last season (12.1%) and total RB targets. |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Dobbins played in only 8 games during the fantasy season, finishing with 520 yards rushing, 42 yards receiving, and 3 TDs. He should be more consistent a year removed from his knee injury, making him a low-end RB2 to flex option, depending on what happens with Lamar Jackson's contract. | Swift is one of the most versatile backs in the NFL and finished 2022 with 517 yards rushing, 328 yards receiving, and 8 TDS. He needs to stay healthy and he needs Jamaal Williams to not take so many TDs, but Swift has a ton of upside and he should be at least a RB2 in 2023. |
