Jacob Wayne
Lineups
How many catches is Josh Jacobs going to get? That's been one of the toughest questions for me to answer this offseason. After drafting a handful of receivers and signing Devontae Booker, I'm not sure if Jacobs is set for the true three-down role we all hope he is. One thing is for sure, though - Jacobs would have top-5 running back upside given his talent if he plays more of a three-down role this season. The Bengals were abysmal last season as they suffered through suspect quarterback play from Andy Dalton and Ryan Finley. Still, Mixon rushed for 4.1 yards per carry and had 35 catches. With Joe Burrow now at quarterback and Zac Taylor's offense featuring plenty of receiving talent, Mixon will have much more room to run and more scoring opportunities in 2020.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Jacobs had an excellent rookie season, despite missing three games with injury. He flashed explosiveness and the ability to continue to gain yards after contact. To the extent there was a downside, it's that he barely factored in as a receiver (just 27 targets). Although he's expressed a desire to be far more involved in the passing game, the presence of pass-catching running backs, including Jalen Richard, makes that less likely, though the recent trade of Lynn Bowden Jr. helps Jacobs' cause in that regard. Regardless of any increased work in the passing game, Jacob should have a workhorse role and be drafted as a borderline RB1.Mixon's value was up in the air for a week or two before he agreed on a new deal with the Bengals that will keep him in Cincinnati for several more seasons. With that locked in, Mixon is good to go for the 2020 season and it should be a good one. The downside for Mixon is his lack of usage in the passing game, which admittedly limits his upside a tad. But he was a true workhorse back over the latter half of the 2019 season, and will now be playing behind a better offensive line with a better quarterback in an offense that should score plenty of points. He may not have the ceiling of the top three or four backs being drafted, but if he's healthy, RB1 status is nearly a lock. Draft him with confidence.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Jacobs seems to have the skills to be a three-down back in Vegas, but he was targeted only 27 times as a rookie. With the Raiders having re-signed Jalen Richard to a two-year deal in February, Jacobs' role in the passing game will likely be limited in 2020.The Bengals addressed their poor offensive line play by selecting center Billy Price in the 2018 draft's first round, then tackle Jonah Williams 11th overall in '19. The hope is that Williams, who missed all of '19 with an injury, helps provide Mixon with better blocking.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Jacobs is a fantastic selection in Standard formats due to the fact that he's likely going to see 270 carries in 2020. Unfortunately, he does lose a little bit of value in PPR formats with the lack of targets going his direction, but he's still likely to finish in the top-12 due to the sheer volume of carries.Mixon now has the contract he coveted in Cincinnati and he's poised to be a workhorse back in a much-improved offense. From Weeks 11-17 last season, Mixon was the RB3 in all of fantasy football. And that was with Ryan Finley throwing the ball and completing 40% of his passes. Mixon's going to receive 18+ carries a game and there should be plenty of scoring opportunities to go around now that Joe Burrow is at QB. If you're drafting now and have concerns about Alvin Kamara and Dalvin Cook's contract situation, I'm fine taking Mixon over them.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Joe Burrow at QB makes this offense instantly and infinitely more potent. Jonah Williams, last year's top ranked run blocker, will immediately improve the line. Mixon was the RB4 from Week 10 on, when the team fully (finally) committed to him, and now will be in an even rosier situation. *UPDATE* New contract only locks Mixon in further
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
The Josh Jacobs hype is totally out of control. Currently the half-PPR RB7, he's going stupidly high in early 2020 drafts. We're talking about a guy who caught 20 balls in his rookie season in a team that just brought in two pass-catching RBs to join the locked-in Jalen Richard. Now the team has brought in two wide receivers and Jason Witten in a clear commitment to the passing game. That a bad sign for a guy who will need to add touches and maintain his high efficiency to even match his draft position. It's time to chill out and wait a little longer for Josh Jacobs.Don't sleep on a Joe Mixon bounce back in 2020! The Bengals were truly awful last year, but Joe Burrow, AJ Green, Tee Higgins and a slew of other additions indicate a new dawn in Cinci. Mixon remains the clear lead back and should get another 300-350 touches. The improved attack and Joe Burrow's love of passing to RBs means Mixon has seriously high upside in 2020. He's a strong first round pick.

We've continually heard that Jacobs is going to be more heavily involved in the passing game, though that never materialized last year, seeing just 27 targets in 13 games played. Then we heard, "we're going to involve him more in 2020." They then re-signed Jalen Richard, added Henry Ruggs, and Lynn Bowden. It's not looking likely that Jacobs sees the 50-plus targets he deserves, which lowers him down the rankings. The overall offense should improve, giving him more scoring opportunities, but relying on touchdowns is a tricky thing. He's best-suited as a high-end RB2 who has RB1 upside if they follow through on the promise to use him more in the passing game. It's one thing to project a breakout for a player due to an increase in opportunity. It's another thing to project a breakout due to an increase in offensive production. Mixon got the opportunity last year under Zac Taylor, as he totaled 18-plus touches on 10 different occasions. But he'll need the offense to take a step forward in 2020 if he wants to ascend into stardom, as he's been an RB2 or better in just 57 percent of his games over the last two years. You must pay attention to his contract status as you approach drafts because Mixon has stated he'll hold out without an extension. This is a real thing with running backs, as they're trying to preserve their health while cashing in on a second contract. Stay tuned.

Gruden has flirted with increasing his pass catching volume. Safe pick in the RB2 rangeThe fantasy world was ready last year, the casual fan is ready this year. Mixon should truly breakout in Zac Taylor's offense with Joe Burrow behind center.

If only Gruden would commit to getting him passing targets and not just provide lip service about it...Cant wait to see Mixon behind a healthy O-line and likely to become Joe Burrows favorite target

Jacobs had a very good rookie season with 1,316 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns. Jacobs should be a low-end RB1, especially if he sees a bigger role in the passing game.Mixon had a horrible start to the season, but finished the year strong and he had 1424 yards from scrimmage and 8 touchdowns on the season. Joe Burrow should make the passing game more dangerous, which should help Mixon see better running lanes, but the offensive line still needs a ton of work.

Great rusher with limited receiving upside. Raiders used him in a two down role and offseason moves dictate he's not getting a massive increase in his passing role. Elite ceiling is limited due to that, but has a strong floor.Workhorse RB in what should be an improved offense and OL. One of 5 RBs to have over 1k yards and 35 recs in each of the past two seasons.

No. 13 RB in FAN PPG as rookie despite playing half his games with a shoulder fracture - an elite talent that should see a sizable bump in the passing gameMixon has 2 of the 3 things that make a fantasy star - volume and talent. What's he been missing is a ripe environment and the hope is rookie QB Burrow can fix that

Packer Report
Jacobs is coming off of a stellar rookies season and will now play in an offense that features some of the most explosive players in the league. The addition of Henry Ruggs should force defenses to play them deep giving Jacobs plenty of rushing lanes to run through.Mixon finished the 2019 season on a strong note averaging nearly 100 yards a game on the ground (98) and scoring six total TDs.With Joe Burrow now under center, the Bengals have a chance to surprise people offensively, and that all begins with the ground game. Look for Mixon to finally have the breakout season we've been waiting for since he entered the league.

Three of their first four games are against top-5 run defensesMixon jumps off the page as an RB who did a lot with nothing last year, but I'm nervous about a potential holdout.

IF Coach Gruden gets Jacobs more involved in the pass game, Jacobs will be a threat for top 5. Ricard and Washington combined for 84 targets, while each playing less than 30% of the snaps. Ricard has been resigned. Washington and his 41 targets are an UFA.How many more terrible situations does he have to survive before he finally gets a real supporting cast? The team has finished in the bottom half of the league in yards and points the last 3 seasons. Mixon manages to survive as RB34(rookie year where he only started 7 games), 9, and 13.
