Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
As far as pure running ability, Chubb might be the best back in the entire NFL. His vision, contact balance, and power are on display with every single run and he's put up ridiculous efficiency metrics through his first few seasons in the league. He should see a significant workload again in 2021, but his lack of involvement in the receiving game prevents him from being vaulted into a top-3 option at the position. Just like Henry in Tennessee, he'll be one of the most reliable and consistent RB options out there, but his upside is capped due to his lack of targets. He'll still a worthy investment in the top-10 at the position, but just keep in mind that he's going to have to score an ungodly amount of touchdowns to vault over some of the other top candidates at the position.
Mark Ringo
Sleepers and Busts
Chubb missed four games in 2020 and still had 1,067 yards and 12 TDS. He's one of the more underrated RBs in the NFL. Cleveland's investment in their offensive line has paid off. The Browns are a run oriented team, only Kareem Hunt's presence prevents him from being a top tier RB. Chubb is a solid pick if you want to go RB early.Jonathan Taylor started out slow, but by the end of the year he was a run away freight train. Marlon Mack is back after signing a new deal and is healthy again. How will the Colts split up the carries? They invested a high pick in Taylor so he should get the bulk of them. The concerns with Taylor are: 1.) he was prone to fumbles in college and 2.) He's not the best at catching passes, which limits his upside in half and full point PPR formats. That said, this Colts team should be in a lot of shootouts in the AFC South. Taylor should get a bunch of TDs in 2021.
Brendan Tuma
FantasyPros
Entering his fourth season in the NFL, Nick Chubb is becoming a known commodity for fantasy football purposes. Arguably the best pure inside runner in the league, it's no secret that Cleveland's 2018 second-round pick will once again need to offset a lack of receiving production by maintaining elite efficiency on the ground. While this is typically a profile to bet against in fake football, Chubb has been an outlier as of late. Helping his case for being a Round 1 pick this summer is a combination of the Browns having an easy schedule in terms of opposing run defenses, as well as Pro Football Focus rankings their offensive line as the best in football.Jonathan Taylor enters 2021 as a volatile first-round fantasy selection. This isn't meant to be a cop out in terms of taking a stance on him. Instead, it's important to understand this about him when it comes to roster construction. Taylor could very well be the No. 1 pick in 2022 redraft leagues. He could also be a frustrating player to roster given the uncertainty Carson Wentz brings to this entire Indianapolis offense. Another factor working against Taylor is the presence of Nyheim Hines, who should be considered the favorite for passing game work out of the backfield (no matter how much Taylor is "working on his hands" this summer). Ultimately, Taylor was an elite prospect entering the league and he smashed down the stretch of his rookie season. He isn't a known commodity like Nick Chubb or Aaron Jones, and therefore picking him requires a certain amount of risk tolerance, but I'd be willing to bet on an ascending player who has an overall RB1 finish in his range of outcomes.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Based on the actual opportunity Chubb got in 2020, he should've finished as the RB24 in half PPR formats. Instead, Chubb scored 54.5 more fantasy points than the average running back would've and finished as the RB9 despite playing in just 12 games. The new offense proved to be very beneficial to the run game, though Kareem Hunt's presence does limit Chubb's true ceiling, which should be top-five, but unless he starts to get more targets, he'll remain in the mid-to-low-end RB1 range. This time last year, I was much higher on Taylor than the consensus. I like Taylor, but did everyone forget about what happened the first 10 weeks of the season? Taylor was the RB19 and David Montgomery was the RB20. Taylor finished the year as the RB6 while Montgomery was the RB4. Many will talk about Montgomery's schedule as the reason for his production, hence why he's ranked at RB20 in ECR right now, but are they ignoring Taylor's schedule? He played against the Texans TWICE, Packers, Raiders, Jaguars, and the Steelers (who were decimated by injuries in that game). That's a large reason for his jump in production. I still like Taylor, just not nearly as much as the consensus.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
When Marlon Mack went down with a season-ending injury in Week 1, everyone expected Taylor's breakout to come immediately. But it didn't. Instead, it was a frustratingly slow build, during which it felt like Taylor left rushing yards and fantasy points on the table every game. But if you held out long enough, you were rewarded with a dominant stretch, during which Taylor feasted on a six-game stretch of soft run defenses, enough to propel him to a finish as the RB6 on the season. With an upgrade in quarterback and running behind a strong offensive line once again, a healthy Taylor should amass fantasy points aplenty this year.
Joe Pisapia
FantasyPros
After suffering an injury Week 4, Nick Chubb returned in Week 10 and rattled off 8 TDs over his final 8 games. While Kareem Hunt should handle the bulk of the receiving workload out of the backfield, Chubb is about as solid of an RB1 as you will find. If he stays on the field for 17 games, he's a lock for well over 1K yards rushing and double digit TDs.
Tim Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Nick Chubb is the best pure running back in football. I've been saying that before it was cool. The only thing holding him back from being at the Derrick Henry level of fantasy backs is Kareem Hunt in the same backfield stealing work. Even with a former all-pro in the same backfield, it is clear that Chubb is the lead dog.Taylor played so well down the stretch last season that many forget we looked like a bust for a big chunk of the season. With the rookie jitters shaken-off, the powerful Taylor looks like a lock to be a top-10 back in year 2. The two concerns, the downgrade at left tackle and the QB question. If Carson Wentz can return to his once dominant form, the sky is the limit for Taylor.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Chubb had 199.7 fantasy points in just 12 games last year and he should be an elite RB1 if he is able to stay healthy in 2021.Taylor was sixth among fantasy running backs with 234.8 fantasy points, but he ended the season with 125.3 fantasy points in his final 5 games. I think he picks up where he left off in his second year and he is a more consistent elite RB1 running behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.
