Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | King Henry is a tough one to rank in 2023. The Titans are in rebuilding mode. Their offensive line is a major work in progress. Henry has been talked about in trade rumors. One anonymous NFL exec said the best time to deal him would be right before the trade deadline. Another rumor mentions the Bengals as a team to keep an eye on. If Cincy moves on from Joe Mixon, Henry could light up the scoreboard! But if Henry stays put, he'll still get plenty of volume. However, if anything happens to Tannehill or they want to take a look at rookie QB Will Levis, the Titans' offense could struggle. Derrick Henry's current ADP is RB 9, which despite the concerns, seems like a good price for a bell cow RB. Bottom line- there's more risk than usual for one of the most consistent bell cow RBs in the league, but bell cow RBs like Henry who can singlehandedly win you a week on their own are a rare find in fantasy football. Side note- I should be king. That's a good gig if you can get it. All Hail King Ringo haha! | Under new head coach, Josh McDaniels, Josh Jacobs had the best season of his career. It probably didn't hurt that his name was Josh haha! Jacobs finished first in the RB rankings. His current ADP is at RB 6. That seems very risky for someone who is coming off a career year. Jacobs has always had talent, but he's been nicked up in the past. In addition, the Raiders' offensive line is shaky at best. And if anything happens to Jimmy Garoppolo, this offense goes bust. But, what am I saying? You guys are Fantasy Pros (shameless plug). The best. I'm sure you guys have already figured out a way for Jacobs to be worth an ADP of RB 6 even with some of my concerns. Of course, lest we forget, Jimmy hasn't exactly been the picture of perfect health throughout his career and if something happens to him you're stuck with Brian Hoyer or Aidan O'Connell running the offense in the middle of the freakin' desert!!! Remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, except for bad fantasy calls. That stuff will come home with you. Ringo has left the building. Bust |
Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | There's something about Derrick Henry that is terrifying this season. Although he has fallen in a lot of rankings, he still has an ADP of RB8. I don't believe the cliff will hit Henry this season, however, a limited pass-catching back on what could be the worst offense in the league is a tough pill to swallow at RB8. As a result, I am out on him this season and view him more as a low-end RB-one than his former elite caliber. | From breaking fantasy in 2022 to being ranked as my RB-10, what happened? Honestly, Las Vegas happened. I feel like the community is overlooking the dumpster fire that this organization is. Although it was bad last year and Jacobs was great, it's hard to see him having another career year on a Jimmy Garropolo-led offense. This team will be playing from behind frequently, and although we saw Jacobs' pass-catching prowess, in 2021 Garropolo's pass-catching RB had fewer than 40 targets. |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 5/11: Line should only be better (1st round injection), and Will Levis could potentially take the offense to new heights. Cliff could be near, but I have a hard time abandoning this horse, even if I end up being a year-too-late | Officially franchised - ideal for his Fantasy Value to remain in LV. Another workhorse year coming in LV for last year's RB3 |
Brandon Funston The Athletic | Still the center of the TEN offensive universe, but there's at least a little concern team could look to deal him in-season if things are going south | We preach volume is king, and Jacobs wore the crown in 2022 with 404 touches - LV likely to lean on him heavily again in what might be his walk year |
Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Derrick Henry made fantasy drafters that overlooked him look silly in 2022, finishing the season as the RB4 overall and in points per game (18.3). He finished second in carries and third in rushing yards (23.4 touches per game) while also posting career highs in targets, receptions and yards per route run. The bad offensive situation hardly influenced Henry's fantasy numbers and he did not seem hampered by the foot injury that knocked him out of the second half of the 2021 season. Fading Henry in 2022 was betting on him to hit the wall playing behind a shaky offensive line finally. And that bet did not go well. But another year of a heavy workload combined with the Titans' grim 2023 outlook with major questions on offense, will bring concerns about drafting Henry early in 2023. | Josh Jacobs was arguably the most valuable fantasy asset during the fantasy football regular season based on his finish as the RB2 overall in relation to his super cheap draft-day ADP. The market was convinced that Jacobs would become part of a dreaded RB-by-committee under new head coach Josh McDaniels, but that was hardly the case. He was a full-blown bellcow for the Raiders leading the NFL in touches through 17 weeks. The 24-year-old is returning to Las Vegas on the franchise tag after leading the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards. With a similar cast of characters returning as depth behind him, it's hard to envision the Raiders not heavily leaning on him again as a true featured back. |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Henry had another stellar fantasy season with 1,429 yards rushing, 379 yards receiving, and 13 TDs. The big concern is usage, he has 1,750 career carries, he has led the league in carries 3 of the last 4 years, and he turned 29-years old in January. If age does not catch up with him, he should be an elite RB1. | Jacobs received a franchise tag, after posting 1,608 yards rushing, 395 yards receiving, and 12 TDs in the fantasy season. He should be a great RB1 option, Jacobs has not indicated that he plans to holdout at this point. |
