Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | The Vikings WR finished first in fantasy points scored, 10th in target share (28%), third in yards per route run (2.70) and second in expected fantasy points per game (15.9) in 2022. His 11.1 expected TDs and 26 red-zone targets tied for first among all WRs. With Adam Thielen's TD presence gone - and Jefferson coming off a curiously low 8-TD year (two fewer than in 2021) - I expect him to score inside the double-digits in 2023. | Nobody boasted a higher target share than Davante Adams in 2022. The ex-Packers WR showed the entire world he didn't need Aaron Rodgers, hanging a league-leading 32.3% target share while finishing third in fantasy points per game (16.8). He even showed that he could thrive without Derek Carr, catching 7 balls for 153 yards and 2 TDs in a Week 17 contest with Jarrett Stidham under center. The obvious concerns about Adams are his age (will be 31 in December) and how he will gel with injury-prone Jimmy Garoppolo as his new QB. But Adams showed zero signs of aging with the league's fifth-highest yards per route run (2.45) as PFF's second-highest graded WR. I also don't believe the fit with Jimmy G is as poor as many may lead on. Garoppolo is an accurate quarterback - 6th in completion rate last season - which should allow Adams to vacuum up targets and add yardage after the catch. I also fully expect any QB issues to be mitigated to some extent by sheer volume, as the depth chart is barren behind Adams and Jakobi Meyers for targets. Hunter Renfrow is expected to be traded or cut by June 1st. |
Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Uh oh- there's trouble in Paradise. Paradise, Nevada that is haha! Raiders beat writer, Vic Tafur is reporting that Davante Adams isn't happy with the direction of the offense. Apparently, Adams wants the Raiders to attack downfield more. Instead, it sounds like they'll try and get the ball out quickly and focus on shorter patterns. This is presumably to protect QB Jimmy Garoppolo. The Raiders' offensive line is shaky at best. Jimmy G could be under a lot of pressure in 2023. Over the course of his career, Garoppolo has played a full season once. Once! And that was behind a good offensive line in San Francisco. He'll be more vulnerable in Vegas. And if anything happens to him it's Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O'Connell and this offense most likely goes bust. For those reasons, Adams current ADP of WR 6 is a little rich for me, despite Davante being one of the most talented WRs in the NFL. Bust Remember when in Vegas always bet on black...or as my devoted fans would say, against Mark Ringo's picks haha! You shouldn't make fun of Ringo's fantasy football picks. My grandmother made fun of my fantasy football picks once. Once! Haha! Danny Vermin Ringo
Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | Believe it or not, just because I have Jefferson at number two, doesn't mean I hate him. Jefferson is fanatstic. If you are looking for weekly consistency and elite target totals, he's your guy. Although I prefer the upside of Ja'Marr Chase, Jefferson has a more solidified role on the offense and doesn't have to compete with Tee Higgins. It's a coin flip for which WR you want to take at the start of the draft. | So I guess Brian Hoyer might be the only serviceable QB in Vegas? Poor Davante Adams, from watching his best friend get forced off the team to now being a veteran on a miserably managed team. However, we know Adams is if not one of, the best receivers in the game. If Hoyer being under center pushes into the mid-second, then I'll be grabbing him everwhere. |
Justin Herrera TSS Fantasy | There's no doubt that he's the best wide receiver across all formats. | He can do it with Aaron Rodgers and without Aaron Rodgers. He is the absolute best football receiver right now and has the route-running ability to adjust to Jimmy G's shortcomings. |
Brandon Funston The Athletic | Has averaged 108 catches, 1600+ recYds, 8.7 TDs and 0 DNPs in 3 NFL seasons | Numbers in Las Vegas looked like they did in GB, and it should be more of the same with QB switch from Carr to Jimmy G. |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | Justin Jefferson was a fantasy monster last season. He was the WR2 in fantasy points per game, ranking first in targets, first in red zone targets, and ninth in deep targets. Jefferson was a top-five-scoring fantasy wideout in 52.9% of his games. He was also eighth in open rate (per FiveThirtyEight). Jefferson is a top-three fantasy pick in 2023 that will see more single coverage with the arrival of Jordan Addison. He looks primed for a career year. | Davante Adams might be getting long in the tooth, but he showed no signs of slowing down last year. He finished with at least 100 receptions, 1,300 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns for the fourth time in the last five seasons. He led all wide receivers in target share (32.6%) while ranking fifth in air-yard share (39.4%) and eighth in fantasy points per route run. Adams should be a fine WR1 in 2023 despite the persistent worries about Jimmy Garoppolo's noodle arm hindering his performance. |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 3/17: Jimmy G acceptable, though unexciting. Pretty lateral to Carr.. which is AOK given Adams' beastly 2022 is still attainable. No real upgrade, or downgrade, IMO.
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Jefferson was a target monster in 2022, tallying 179 targets, 124 receptions, 1,771 receiving yards, and 8 TDs. Jefferson is the best receiver in the NFL at this point and he should be an elite WR1 for years to come. | Adams was one of the bright spots for the Raiders, finishing with 95 receptions for 1,443 yards and 14 TDs. He should be an elite WR1, as long as the Raiders replace Derek Carr with a replacement level QB. |
