QB Brady is still throwing a decent deep ball, which should help one of NFL's premier power forward receiving targets top 1,000 yards for a 7th straight season
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Evans has now finished as a top-10 receiver in 4-of-6 seasons with the Bucs, but will he lose some of his massive target totals from years past? Evans has continually been peppered with targets by Jameis Winston, as he was willing to trust the receiver in jump-ball situations. Tom Brady isn't a risk-taker, as evidenced by his low interception totals. With the ascention of Chris Godwin, arrival of Rob Gronkowski and Keshawn Vaughn, and likely declining pass attempts in the Bucs offense, Evans may lose some of his top-end upside, though he should still remain in the low-end WR1 conversation. Many have underrated Allen for a long time, though it may be time for the tables to turn, as I'm somewhat down on the top-tier route runner. With Tyrod Taylor and/or Justin Herbert under center, the Chargers are not going to be throwing the ball a whole lot. There were nearly 600 targets to go around last year, which could be cut down to around the 500 mark, and that would severely impact Allen's targets. Not just that, but his efficiency is likely to come down with the decline in quarterback play. His talent should help get him into WR2 territory, but I think the days of him being a WR1 are in the rearview mirror.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
If anything, haven't we learned that it doesn't matter what position you play if you're talented? Brady's used Cooks, Moss, Edelman, Gronk.. I had a stat that I didn't know what to do with in Godwin's notes that is also obviously relevant here. Evan's reliance on the deep ball is over stated. Not only on counting stats, but also behind the scenes in reception perception. Mike Evans is good at separating against man and press coverage and while he's elite at contested catches, that doesn't have to be his game. We should stop knocking an all around good WR for being exceptionally good on deep balls.Has always found a way to gobble up targets. Won't get a firm rank on him until a QB decision but appears to be a safe WR2. Has been on the verge of disappointing on his ADP multiple seasons, might just do it this year when he can't complain to Phil for targets, for a late season surge. Tyrod's leading WR stat line in CLE: 15 targets, 7/106 7 targets, 5/69 That concludes our sample haha. He's never had more than 3100 passing yards or 436 attempts in a season so someone is underperforming if Herbert doesn't step in, and then we're relying on a rookie QB, so...
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Evans had 1,157 yards receiving and eight receiving touchdowns as the deep threat in this offense. He is probably the player most hurt by the acquisition of QB Tom Brady, Brady has always been more about short passes and his arm strength was suspect at the end of last year.Allen had another strong, but inconsistent season with 1,215 yards from scrimmage and 6 touchdowns. I do not have a lot of hope for him if QB Tyrod Taylor remains the starter, that would make him a boom / bust WR3. Rookie Justin Herbert has a better arm than Taylor, but his inexperience would hurt Allen's value too.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Evans could see a slight step backwards with Tom Brady behind center now, but he's still going to be incredibly productive. Brady can still air the ball out downfield and those targets are incredibly valuable for Evans' fantasy production. Brady's going to learn to trust Evans early on and he'll see plenty of targets this year. Evans should be a consistent WR2 option all season long with upside.Unfortunately, Allen's fantasy outlook is pretty bleak this season. The Chargers are changing offensive philosophies and the passing volume simply isn't going to be there for Allen. In my opinion, Allen's nothing more than a low-end WR2/WR3 in 2020, which means he's being over-drafted at this point.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Mike Evans turned in his sixth consecutive 1000 yard season despite playing just 13 games and passing 100 yards on only three occasions. He once again mastered the blow-up game with each of those big games topping 180 yards and 30 half-ppr fantasy points. In best ball that makes him a great option but in redraft it makes him a terrifying weekly play if you draft him too early. That aspect locks him into his third-round price tag... or does it? Tom Brady is now in town and Evans could well benefit more than most realise. Brady still has a good deep ball and likes to unleash it on rare occasions when the receiver is good enough. Evans is always good enough. I like his upside but be wary of his weekly variance.Keenan Allen has been extraordinarily consistent over the last three years, locked into 100 receptions, 1200 yards and 6 TDs. That was good enough for a WR8 finish in half-PPR last year but it was a down year for receivers. In 2020 he gets a new QB in Tyrod Taylor and possibly at some stage Justin Herbert. It's not clear exactly how this will affect Allen's volume but I'd suggest it won't make as much difference as many think. I anticipate a solid top 12 season, higher in PPR, with the upside for more if things really click. He's a great value pick as he's going as the WR20 late in the fourth round.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
What he loses in volume will be offset with accuracy. He got 120 targets and caught 67. He could turn that same 120 into 85 with TB12. @DFFMemphis
