I love Royce Freeman's game, which is why I don't view Booker as a threat to him. With that being said, NFL teams sometimes do some weird things and make rookies "earn their stripes." Booker is someone who played behind C.J. Anderson the last few years, and the Broncos cut Anderson this offseason. Then they drafted Freeman in the third-round. What does that tell you about Booker? He's just a handcuff and not one that you should go out of your way to draft, as we've seen him in a workhorse role before back in 2016. It wasn't pretty.Don't forget about the guy that the Ravens were extremely high on coming into last year before he suffered a season-ending injury. While I expected him to compete for the starting job, Dixon was dealing with an injury during training camp and is reportedly on the roster bubble. He's just a backup at this point in time.

QB List
Personally, I'm a Royce Freeman believer, and that's partly why I have Booker as low as I do. Could Booker get the majority of the work Week 1? Sure, that's definitely possible, but even if he does I don't expect him to hang onto the job for long. He's had and lost the starting job too many times for me to have any faith in him, and he ended the year last year with a -9.2% DVOA. However, he's still worth a grab in the later rounds on the chance that he gets the starting gig and hangs onto it-even if he's not that good, being a starting running back in the NFL is worth something in fantasy.Dixon has been hyped as a potential star running back for the Ravens for a long time now, but I think that's about dead with the rise of Alex Collins. Will Dixon get work? Yes, but I don't think he's going to be much more than a change-of-pace back with Javorius Allen as the passing-down back. I'm a believer in the idea that Collins earned this gig last year and that John Harbaugh isn't giving it away easily.

There are reports that Booker will share the load with Royce Freeman, but I just haven't seen enough out of Booker to take that news as actionable in these rankings. I believe Freeman gets some leeway and plenty of chances to lead the Broncos on the ground.I like Dixon enough to take a risk on him due to the fact that he could see plenty of work if he's fully healthy and ready for the season. Camp reports will go a long way to seeing if he is poised to cut into Alex Collins' workload, but I still expect Dixon to see work in the passing game either way.
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
Averaging 3.6 YPC over two years, picking Booker is a bet of him getting more volume than rookie Royce Freeman. He found pay dirt once despite receiving 17 red-zone carries, but also produced 14.8 PPR points in his only game playing the majority of Denver's snaps. Freeman looks poised to assume C.J. Anderson's leading role, which leaves Booker as bench fodder. After a torn MCL delayed Dixon's NFL debut in 2016, a torn meniscus ended his sophomore season before it began. He also received a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's PED policy before the injury, so there are red flags galore heading into his latest comeback. Yet he once seemed poised to assume an expanded role in Baltimore's backfield, so he's a tempting late-draft flier.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
Could get first crack at being the lead back in Denver. Booker's per-carry average of 3.6 yards is 27th out of the 29 backs in 2016-17 who had at least 250 carries (Booker had 253). "He's got to come out and work and earn the right to be the (first) guy," Joseph said. "He understands that with C.J. gone, it's a wide open race. He's a good football player, but we want more from him, obviously." denverpost.com

Breaking Football
Booker is a solid talent but he has been a bust so far and he has competition. I like him as a late flier but I can't invest early in him
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
While it seems that the Broncos drafted Royce Freeman to jump in as the lead-back from Week 1, it is far from certain at this point. Booker is said to have a shot at the job, so keep an eye out and draft him in the meantime as a shot in the dark.Had Dixon not suffered a season-ending injury last season, we may just be talking about him as a top 15 running back headed into this fantasy season. The fact is that Baltimore raved about him so don't be shocked if he gets a crack at considerable touches even with Alex Collins ahead of him for now.

This is Freeman's backfield but Booker has the talent to carve out a significant roleCould easily be named starter by week one
