Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 5/26: Unquestioned No.1 now without Hopkins - avg'ed 10.7 tgts (WR5) & 18.3 FPPG (WR7) without Hopkins to start last year. 5/8: Less questions around Kyler's health + no targets added (but DHop does return) = more upside for Marquise Brown in what's prmised to be a more "vertical" attack in this new regime. Kyler's major health questions make Marquise less appealing despite his huge flashes in 2022 | 6/3: Hopkins would be a blow, but everyone from Chiefs say they are very confident in Toney being their No.1 -- the praise hasn't stopped pouring in! 5/8: JuJu & Hardman are gone, opening up a ton of WR targets. Rashee Rice was added in Round 2, but brings a much diff (jump-ball) skill-set than Toney, who the coaching staff reportedly believes "has no limit" and has a "first-round grade" on him, with plans to unlock his vertical game far more. The team views him as "the No.1 defense" that can stretch the fied & draw doubles. We'll see if Toney can piece it all together & actually stay healthy, but the glimpses of true WR1 uspide have been there... and the path couldn't be clearer now. 2/8: Finding groove late here with Chiefs. If his snaps can boost ater a full offseason to learn the playbook, Toney has INSANE upside. Hardman, JuJu both free agents, too |
Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | Last season without DeAndre Hopkins, Brown was the WR-six. Although that six-week span was with Kyler, Hollywood is the clear top option on this team. Regardless of who is under center, his only competition is Zach Ertz, who is recovering from a severe knee injury, a second-year TE, and two undersized gadget receivers. If Brown can stay healthy he could produce as a high-end WR-two with big play upside. | |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | DeAndre Hopkins is gone, which means Marquise Brown could revisit his 2022 early-season usage. In Weeks 1-6, he was the WR7 in fantasy as he saw elite alpha-level love. He had a 26% target share, a 40.5% air yard share, and 2.00 yards per route run. Brown proved up to the task of operating as Arizona's number one receiving option. He was 24th in open rate last year, immediately behind Jakobi Meyers (per ESPN analytics). Brown is a WR2/3 that could revisit WR1 production if Kyler Murray is under center for most of this season. | Kadarius Toney could be an elite fantasy option if he can ever secure a full-time role and stay injury free. Toney was an efficiency darling in his rookie season, ranking seventh in target per route run rate and 17th in yards per route run. Those beautiful metrics carried over into 2022, with Toney garnering a 28.6% target per route run rate and 2.44 yards per route run. Toney only eclipsed 40% of the snaps once last year with the Chiefs. He then got dinged up and returned to 30-32% snap shares in Weeks 16-18. Even in the playoffs, he couldn't surpass 29% of the team's snaps in any game. If his stars align, Toney is a WR4 that could evolve into a weekly WR2. |
Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Toney showed flashes last year after being traded to Kansas City. Now he actually knows the offense so the sky is the limit. I expect the Chiefs to feature him more. It sounds like he'd be a good fit for the role vacated by Tyreek Hill. The concerns: Can he stay healthy? Toney has yet to make it through a full season. Second. with the news that DeAndre Hopkins is now a free agent, there's a chance that Kansas City tries to bring Hopkins aboard. If that happens, Toney would lose valuable targets. Hopkins would become the defacto receiving option #1A or #1B to Kelce for Patrick Mahomes. Toney's current ADP is WR # 40. That seems pretty cheap for possibly the top target in the Chiefs' potent offense. Keep an eye on Hopkins's landing spot. If DeAndre signs with another team, few WRs have the fantasy upside that Toney possesses with such an affordable price tag. Sleeper |
