| Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Last December here's what Michael Lombardi, former NFL executive spoke about Matthew Stafford's health on his podcast, "The GM Shuffle". "There's a good chance, I would say better than 70% that Matthew Stafford doesn't play next year. I have a sense that...it's more than a hunch, it's talking to people in the league that maybe Stafford's body is breaking down." After seeing that statement from Michael Lombardi, unless those opinions have changed, the thought of drafting or ranking ANY Rams offensive player high scares the living hell out of me. Lombardi is pretty dialed in when it comes to news in the league. There are ominous signs in Los Angeles. Bust | The Steelers added some pieces which should help their offense in 2023. Veteran Issac Seumalo was signed in free agency and the Steelers moved up to draft Broderick Jones in the first round. Both should help fortify the left side of the line. TE Darnell Washington is a big target who can block. Allen Robinson comes over after a disappointing season in Los Angeles. The Steelers want to use him out of the slot as they did with JuJu Smith-Schuster in the past. Hopefully, he can rekindle some magic from a few years ago. Add in the fact, that Pickett should be more comfortable with the playbook in his second year and there's reason for optimism in the Steel City. However, Pickett only had 10 TDs in about 11.5 games last year. He'll need to make a giant leap to be relevant for fantasy owners in 2023. Alright fantasy owners, now listen to me. This is the last shot that we've got. We're going to run the Pickett fence at them. George (Pickens), you're the swingman. Diontae, you're solo right. Expecting the Rams O to rebound big in 2023 | 5/5: They've surrounded Pickett with some new towers in Darnell Washington & Allen Robinson, alongside George Pickett, Diontae, and Freiermuth already. With his rookie jitters out, I like Pickett to take another step as a sophomore-- he definitely flashed some "the guy" potential. |
| Pat Fitzmaurice FantasyPros | After leading the Rams to a championship two seasons ago, Matthew Stafford struggled through the first nine games of 2022 before a spinal cord contusion ended his season. In 2021, Stafford averaged 287.4 passing yards per game and threw for 41 touchdowns. Last year, he averaged 231.9 passing yards and threw for 10 touchdowns. Stafford has become increasingly interception-prone in his twilight years, with 25 INTs in his last 26 regular-season games. The 35-year-old Stafford might have fuel left in the tank, but the red flags in his statistical profile make him a low-end QB2 for 2023. | The first quarterback taken in the 2022 NFL Draft, Kenny Pickett had mixed results in his rookie season, averaging 184.9 passing yards per game and 6.2 yards per attempt, and throwing more interceptions (9) than touchdowns (7). Pickett did get less interception-prone and sack-prone as the season went on, and he guided the Steelers to victory in his final three starts. We should probably expect more below-average passing numbers from Pickett in 2023, but he offers value as a runner, having run for 237 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie. |
