Zachary Hanshew
FantasyPros
Pittman Jr should be the Colts' No. 2 opposite T.Y. Hilton this season, and that could pay big dividends for fantasy managers. The 6-foot-4 wideout has plenty of appeal as a big-bodied red-zone target, and he could have a strong rookie season with Philip Rivers. Pittman Jr has received plenty of praise for the Colts' coaching staff this offseason, and if you have room on your bench, Pittman Jr should be on your radar ahead of Week 1.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
Not dynamic enough to be a No. 1 target, Pittman could carve out a role as a reliable underneath target for Indy QB Philip Rivers.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
The 49ers game plan is very simple. Run, run, throw to George Kittle, give Deebo Samuel a crack, run some more. It's simple but effective too and will only change if a) the defense sucks (it won't) or b) someone gets injured. Deebo's injury has therefore opened the door just a little, but it seems far more like the extra targets available from Sanders and perhaps Samuel's absence will be spread between Brandon Aiyuk, Kendrick Bourne and perhaps some Dante Pettis and Trent Taylor. There's hence simply not enough volume to justify the rookie as a worthwhile pick in most leagues, especially given the role isn't guaranteed. Because he's very cheap, you can draft him for depth, just don't expect a league winner. There's a lot of Michael Pittman hype and I get it. He's going to be a starter in a strong Colts offense with the aggressive Philip Rivers at the helm. But let's be very clear, he's still a solid but average rookie who'll play well behind T.Y. Hilton and the run game. It's very hard to project him with 100 targets and that makes it hard to consider him a fantasy-relevant player. I'd be avoiding him this year but look forward to drafting him in the future.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
When you're a first-round pick, you're going to get some opportunities, and even more so when the team's No. 1 receiver is out. With Deebo Samuel slated to miss time, Aiyuk is likely to lead the 49ers receivers in targets over the first few weeks. Knowing the schedule starts with the Cardinals, Jets, and Giants, he might get off to a hot start. While watching college film on Aiyuk, he's someone who popped at times, but would then disappear during others. I classified him as more fast than quick, as he is shifty in routes, but lacks elite short-area burst. I thought he'd be a field stretcher who could eventually turn into a complete receiver with some refinement in his intermediate routes. Knowing Garoppolo was arguably the best deep-ball passer in the league last year, that seems like a match. The issue is that the 49ers had him throw deep just 6.5 percent of the time, which was the lowest in the league. We need those numbers to go up for Aiyuk to truly explode. Knowing his early season schedule, it's not a bad idea to snag him as a WR5 and see what happens. He's someone who rapidly moved up draft boards as the NFL Draft approached. The Colts liked him so much that they selected him over Jonathan Taylor (who they then traded up to get a few picks later), so it's clear they love Pittman. They did love Parris Campbell in last year's draft, too, so we can't go overboard. They said the plan is for Pittman to be the "X" receiver in the offense, which should present value with someone like Philip Rivers, who has zero issue throwing into tight coverage, especially when his receiver is 6-foot-4 and 223 pounds. This is your reminder that Mike Williams is 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, while Vincent Jackson was 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds. These are wide receivers that Rivers targeted relentlessly. Mike Williams averaged just 2.0 yards of separation at target last year, the second-worst mark in football. Can Pittman make it into the starting lineup opening day? If so, Rivers could fall in love with his size, particularly in the red zone. He's worth a pick with one of your last few selections, as he's a dark horse to lead the team in receiving touchdowns.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Brandon Aiyuk could not have landed in a better spot than San Francisco. They love getting their WRs the ball in space and Aiyuk is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Add the fact that Deebo Samuel is slated to miss at least the first few weeks, and we could have an immediate contributor out of Aiyuk.Colts rookie WR, Michael Pittman finds himself in a fairly good position in Indianapolis with a legitimate shot to compete for the WR2 role. Parris Campbell will be stiff competition, but whichever one wins out will have fantasy value in 2020. I'm leaning towards Pittman being that guy.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Has the chance to make an immediate impact as a rookie as a downfield target for Phillip Rivers. His competition for targets is oft injured TY Hilton and Jack Doyle, and second year slot receiver Parris Campbell. Would not be shocked if he becomes a weekly starting option.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Mike Williams is 6'4", 220. Michael Pittman is 6'4", 223. Mike Williams two years ago was Rivers' RZ weapon. Last year he was Rivers' deep-ball threat. With T.Y. as a solid deep threat and Campbell as a fast slot option, Pittman could make an impact in the RZ right away.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Brandon Aiyuk was one of my most confusing evaluations throughout the pre-draft process and my grade reflects that. He has the draft capital, but Aiyuk's best utilized as a deep-passing option and that doesn't exactly fit Garropolo's skillset. Aiyuk may be one of the players that's better for a NFL offense than for fantasy football.Michael Pittman Jr. may have fallen into the best landing spot for any WR in this class. T.Y Hilton is on the last year of his contract and Parris Campbell is more of a gadget player that won't command an incredible amount of targets. Pittman is going to receive all the targets he can handle and he has the talent level to be a top-24 fantasy WR within the next two seasons.
