Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Russell Wilson's weapons/supporting cast overall are pretty even going from Seattle to Denver, but Nathaniel Hackett calling the shots is an upgrade over Pete Carroll. Hackett's obviously had success with Aaron Rodgers that has translated into fantasy, so a top-five fantasy quarterback outcome is firmly in play with Wilson in 2022. After all, Wilson's long track record of efficient fantasy play is undeniable - he has finished among the top-six fantasy QBs five times since 2014. I like his chances of making it seven in 2022. Because Wilson is still among the league's elite passers when healthy. Before the finger derailed his season, Russ led the NFL in yards per attempt (10.4), passer rating (133.6) and passer rating from a clean pocket (130.9) before Week 5. Wilson also finished the season on a high note, averaging over 24 fantasy points per game in his last three contests. All in all, 2021 was a typical season for Wilson: peaks and valleys. He averaged 23 fantasy points per game from Weeks 1-4 and Weeks 16-18. In his six games post-injury, Wilson averaged an abysmal 13 fantasy points per game. Buy the inevitable 2022 dip on the future Hall of Fame quarterback in a new situation. That combined with a plethora of weapons in Denver, makes it very plausible he sees similar immediate success that other quarterbacks like Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford have had since changing teams late into their careers. | Placing Aaron Rodgers in the "players to avoid" category feels like grabbing at low-hanging fruit, but it's just so obvious his fantasy ceiling is going to be hindered this year without his No. 1 wide receiver, Davante Adams. The one game the Packers signal-caller played without his No. 1 receiver in 2021 was his third-worst fantasy finish of the season. And Rodgers' only healthy season-long fantasy finish outside the top-8 came in a season where Adams missed four games. The dynamic duo's chemistry was never more apparent in or near the red zone, with Rodgers-Adams combining for 64 touchdowns - double-digits on average - since 2016, 23 more than the next closest duo (Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill). Thirty-three percent of Rodgers touchdowns have gone to Adams over that period. Green Bay has bolstered their wide receiver room through free agency and the draft, but it's still improbable that they can make up for Adams' production - especially in the red zone. Without Adams, it's hard to buy Rodgers as a top-12 fantasy quarterback in 2022. |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Wilson struggled with injuries and poor play on a Seattle team that missed the postseason for the first time since 2017. He has a new lease on his professional career in Denver with a ton of young talent on offense and a more aggressive offensive system. Wilson should be a very strong QB1 in 2022. | Aaron Rodgers will be back in Green Bay, but with no Davante Adams, he is going to probably have a dip in passing production. Rodgers is a high-end QB2 for fantasy purposes without an elite proven wide receiver on an offense that is probably going to focus on the running game more this year. |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | Aaron Rodgers doesn't look like he's lost a step at all after finishing last season as the QB8 in fantasy points per game. Rodgers was top-five in fantasy points per dropback and clean pocket completion rate. Losing his bae Davante Adams hurts his ceiling and per-play efficiency outlooks. Efficiency has been the driver of his fantasy goodness because he resides inside one of the NFL's slowest-paced offenses. Raw volume won't be there to help counteract the dip there, so Rodgers falls into the QB2 bucket with weekly top 12 upside. | |
Pat Fitzmaurice FantasyPros | Perennially one of the most dependable fantasy QBs, Wilson finished QB13 in fantasy points per game last season and struggled after coming back from a grisly finger injury that cost him three midseason games. But now Wilson has a shiny new outlook with the Broncos, who seem willing to open their pantry and let Russ cook. There's reason to be cautiously optimistic about a rebound season. | At age 38, Rodgers is still one of the best pure passers in the game, and there have been no discernible signs of decline. But make no mistake: Losing star WR Davante Adams is going to damage Rodgers' fantasy value. Expect at least incremental declines in both passing volume and efficiency. Rodgers has led the league in passer rating for two straight seasons and rarely throws interceptions, but he does very little running anymore. Without Adams, Rodgers' ceiling is probably low-end QB1, and it's probably best to view him as a high-end QB2. |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | Win to get out of Pete Carroll's awful run-obsessed O, even if weapons are a downgrade | Ouch. No Adams could severely limit Rodgers & GB, esp fantasy-wise |
