Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
During his rookie season, while playing behind a shoddy offensive line and in a low-scoring offense, Barkley overcame all odds and delivered a fantasy MVP-worthy performance. He finished as an RB1 in 75 percent of his games, while hitting at least RB2 numbers in 93.8 percent of his games. Some are excited about his target possibilities with Odell Beckham Jr. gone, but it's likely going to bring more attention to him and the run-game. Still, Barkley showed last year that he's able to overcome a lot, making him a relatively safe top-three selection in every format, but the lack of scoring from this offense can hold him back. With Mark Ingram's departure, many are likely wondering what it means for Kamara, though the acquisition of Latavius Murray tells us a lot. He's likely going to walk into the old Ingram role, though it's important to note that it's no guarantee he's able to fit in this offense. You remember Adrian Peterson with the Saints, right? He was able to go to the Redskins and get it done, so maybe Sean Payton's offense just isn't right for everyone. Because of that, Kamara gets a slight bump in upside which was already high to begin with, as he has finished as the RB3 and RB4 in his first two seasons with Ingram on the roster.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Phenomenally versatile game-breaker (21 combined runs/receptions of 20+ yards most at RB), but team context could hurt him a bit (e.g. loss of OBJ, potential QB shuffle)Has led RBs in Half-PPR FAN PTS per Touch in each of his first 2 NFL campaigns (min. 200 touches per season) - with Mark Ingram off to BAL, good shot at 1st 300-touch campaign
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Barkley was in an unenviable position as a rookie and was still fantasy's top RB. He's probably the most talented rusher in the league already. Yeah, he's the top option. The Saints say Kamara's role won't balloon, but they have to know it should. If he gets the touches he got when Mark Ingram was out last year, look out.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Last season, Saquon Barkley totaled 641 yards on 16 carries of 20-plus yards. Those numbers rank third- and fifth-most, respectively, across the PFF era (2007-2018). On average, running backs who totaled 400-plus yards on carries that gained 20-plus yards saw that number drop by 56% in the following season. Excluding carries of 20-plus yards, Barkley averaged just 2.72 yards per carry - worst of 256 qualifying seasons within the PFF era. @ScottBarrettDFB
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
There is zero to dislike about Barkley as a player, as he was second in the league last year with 1,307 rushing yards and caught 91 passes, second in running backs to only Christian McCaffrey. But his production waned somewhat without Odell Beckham Jr., and with all the issues with the Giants' wide receivers, defenses will surely be focused on not letting Barkley beat them. But those are all minimal concerns when you consider Barkley's talent and likely usage. He's one of the top few picks in your draft, if not the first selection.Kamara has seen more than 100 targets in each of his first two seasons, and is a dynamic pass-catcher for a running back. As he did the previous two seasons with Mark Ingram, Kamara is going to cede plenty of work to Latavius Murray, who signed a fairly hefty contract. But Kamara doesn't need 20-plus touches per game to be an elite fantasy option. The offense runs through him, Drew Brees, and Michael Thomas, and it should be more of the same this year. He's one of the truly elite and safe players in the game today.
Greg Smith
TwoQBs
My overall rankings are for 2QB/Superflex.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
1307/11 rushing and 91/721/4 receiving AS A ROOKIE! He is going to get the ball 20+ times a game, easily. He was also ridiculously consistent. Had 2 games under 15.5 half ppr points all of last season which is absurd.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Barkley had ONE game all of last season with less than 50 rushing yards, less than 5 catches, and no TDs. He's one big run away from being the overall RB1 every week.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Barkley is an absolute freak. He has a 96th percentile bench press, a 97th percentile burst score, a 99th percentile height adjusted speed score, a 99th percentile SPARQ-x score, and is one of the best receiving backs in the league. He can take any play to the house, and can save even his poor fantasy performances with his receiving upside. He ran for over 1,300 yards and 15 total TD's last season, averaging 5.0 YPC on one of the worst offenses in football. Oh, and he also caught 91 balls. There are two big concerns with Barkley The first is that his YPC is likely to regress this season. He had 16 carries for 641 yards on runs of 20+ yards. While this is one of his strengths, you can't expect him to rush for that many yards on long runs each season. The second concern is his offense. This is going to be one of the worst offenses in the league, and it's very difficult for a RB to pay off top overall value when the offense around them is so bad. I'm ok drafting Barkley...but he usually goes first overall, which means I'll have 0% of him.I shouldn't really need to sell you on Kamara, but I'll do so anyways. Kamara has turned in back to back top 4 RB seasons, scoring a jaw dropping 31 TD's over his first two seasons. The crazy part is, he's done so on less than 320 total carries, and still hasn't been over 900 rushing yards. Kamara could finish as the #1 fantasy running back, even if he sees less than 200 carries. There isn't a single other RB you can say that about. He's got the most secure TD floor or any back in football, and he's game script proof thanks to his receiving ability (81 receptions in back to back seasons). I have no problem if you want to draft Kamara first overall. He's that safe and that good.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Barkley is the consensus 1.1 pick for a reason; he is the most talented running back to enter the league since Adrian Peterson and perhaps even Barry Sanders. With that said, he plays behind one of the league's worst offensive lines and teams may stack the box more often with Beckham now in Cleveland. Still yet, Saquon dominated last year despite the rest of the offense struggling, plus he is game script proof.Kamara has managed to finish as a top five fantasy running back in each season despite only being a workhorse for four games in that stretch. Now that Mark Ingram is gone, there is a chance he runs away with the league lead in fantasy points like Gurley did the last two seasons. With that said, Latavius Murray may jump right into Ingram's role and perhaps even vulture extra touchdowns.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
Saquon's a transcendent talent at the running back position. He's in an incredible position this season to exceed 2,000 total yards again and that New York Giants offense is going to run through him. He should be the 1.01 in every draft this season.Mark Ingram is now out of town and this leaves Kamara the likely leader of the Saints' backfield. While I'm not projecting anything over 215 carries for Kamara, he's going to see as many targets in the receiving game as he can handle. In any form of PPR, Kamara's a top-tier RB1 for your fantasy team in 2019.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Barkley was 2nd in fantasy points by running backs in his rookie season and he should continue to his ascent towards becoming the best running back in the NFL.Kamara is one of the most explosive running backs in the NFL and he has 32 total touchdowns in 31 games. He should continue being an elite fantasy football option.
