Sleepers and Busts
The Titans trade for Julio is great news for Henry. It forces defenses to pick their poison. If they drop the safety in the box, Tannehill can throw it over the top. If not, it opens up room for Henry to operate. The concerns are: 1.) The heavy workload Henry has accumulated in prior seasons. Sooner or later that catches up to all RBs. 2.) Henry's lack of use in the passing game. He's a power RB, not a Ricky Bobby/Cal Naughton Jr Shake and Bake guy. Those reception points add up. That caps his upside. It's unusual for one dimensional RBs to be in the top tier of RBs in half point and full point PPR formats. That said, if Julio can stay healthy the Titans offense could propel to a whole new level.Saquon's coming off a devastating knee injury. The Giants might ease him back by limiting his touches. Even if they don't, Barkley's running style, which invovles plenty of quick stops and starts isn't ideal for an ACL injury. Can he be the same RB? Can he stay healthy? And I speak from personal experience having torn my ACL, albeit 20 years ago. The Giants line isn't very good and the book is still out on QB Daniel Jones. Saquon is too risky in 2021 for me as an early round pick. Let someone else take the chance. Pass
Brendan Tuma
FantasyPros
The good news is that by the time Week 1 rolls around, Saquon Barkley will have had a full calendar year to recover from his ACL/MCL/meniscus injury that he suffered last September. This is the fantastic as fantasy football is more fun when Barkley is healthy. The bad news? It truly sounds as if the Giants want to limit his workload early on this year, and it's tough to blame them considering Barkley is their franchise player at the moment. I'm also a tad concerned with his ultimate PPR ceiling, as Saquon benefited immensely from Eli "dumpoff" Manning back in 2018. He's still an unquestioned three-down bell cow, but I just don't expect that type of insane usage in the passing game again. Fantasy managers should expect Barkley's workload -- and therefore his fantasy value -- to increase as the season moves along.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
The man just keeps getting better... Every year he's been in the league, we've watched his rushing yardage go up by at least 250 yards. I'm sure he peaked last year with 2,027 yards on the ground, but now going to a 17-game season, maybe I'm wrong. Henry should be in scoring position quite a bit this year knowing the Titans went out and acquired Julio Jones this offseason. There's no scenario where your offense gets worse in that equation. However, we don't know how the offense is going to look in 2021, as Arthur Smith (offensive coordinator the last two years) is gone. Still, with Jones and A.J. Brown on the perimeter, it's going to be tough for opponents to stack the box the way they have against Henry the last few years, so his efficiency may actually go up. There are certainly some variables to his projections, but Henry has proven that despite his lack of usage in the passing game, he's going to make up for it on the ground. After setting the fantasy world on fire his rookie season with over 2,000 yards from scrimmage and 15 touchdowns, Barkley hasn't exactly lived up to expectations producing 1,535 total yards and eight touchdowns over 15 games the last two seasons. He tore his ACL early in the season, which should give him plenty of time to bounce back, though his violent running style could take a bit longer in recovery. The Giants suddenly have more weapons than ever in the passing game, so Barkley is unlikely to come close to the 121 targets he saw in 2018, though he should have more scoring opportunities. There is some risk with Barkley at the top of drafts due to his knee, but when on the field, we know he'll produce.
Tim Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Is this the year that Derrick Henry falls off? Historically, there is a saying in the fantasy world that the 1800 carry mark is where workhorse RBs start to fall off. Henry is not in danger of passing that mark this season, and all other signs point to him still being a beast. In fact, with the loss of main offensive weapons, the Titans will probably lean on him even more than usual this season. King Henry's reign will remain at least 1 season longerOver the last two seasons, Barkley played a total of 15 games combined. The risk of injury is just too great right now for me to take him over some proven guys who stay on the field, even if he is the most talented back in the NFL.
Joe Pisapia
FantasyPros
Despite leading the NFL in rushing back to back seasons (a feat accomplished just twice in the last 20 years), Derrick Henry still doesn't get enough credit. While he'll never have the PPR upside of CMC or Dalvin Cook, Henry has two straight seasons of 300+ carries, 16+ TDs. Many are concerned with henry's workload catching up with him, but he's a physical freak of nature and was used sparingly his first two years in the NFL. He's worthy of top 3 overall consideration in all formats, even with low reception totals.
Kevin Wheeler
The Draft Zone
Will injuries take their toll? Saquon is a great pick for re-draft, but scares me in bestball.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
From a talent perspective, Saquon Barkley is the best RB in the NFL when he's on the field. Unfortunately, the issue has been staying on the field the past two seasons. Barkley has played 15 out of a possible 32 games, which makes him a very risky investment at the top of your draft. For fantasy managers to have a shot of competing deep into their playoffs, they need their top draft pick to pull their weight all season long. As the RB3 in ECR right now, that's too high of a cost for Barkley that doesn't take into account his injury history whatsoever. As a late first-round draft pick, the risk is worth the reward. A top-3 pick in your fantasy football draft might be a little bit too rich.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Henry has led the league in rushing back-to-back seasons and he had 2,027 yards rushing on the ground. He was also second among running backs with 323.6 fantasy points. I am a little worried about 378 carries, but given his size and that he is only 27-years old, he should continue to be dominant in 2021.Injuries capped Barkley's 2019 season and completely derailed his 2020 season as he played only two games. I love Barkley's ability, but he needs to stay healthy if he is going to realize his unlimited potential.
