True North Fantasy Football
Pollard has become the new fantasy darling this offseason. As soon as Ezekiel Elliott was released, it was full steam ahead for the explosive back. Although Zeke could still sign back with the Cowboys, or they could sign another veteran, Pollard is going to be the lead guy. If they do sign another notable back this offseason I will move him down to around RB12. My concern about them signing another back is that even with Zeke losing a step last season and battling injuries, Pollard only surpassed 60% of snaps twice. As a result, I'm worried his perceived workload is not as locked in as many believe. There is a lot to love about Breece Hall. After exploding onto the scene in his rookie season, he flashed as both an efficient pass catcher and runner. Unfortunately, his rookie season ended early after he tore his ACL in Week 7. Hall possesses all the traits to be a top-five option this year, however, I am cautious about his return from injury. It may take him a few weeks to find his groove and carry the full workload, but after that, he could be a league winner for fantasy teams.

Sleepers and Busts
Pollard is an electric RB. He showed his running chops that last season. Many folks have been clamoring for him to be "the guy". With Zeke out of the picture as of this writing in mid-May, most analysts are penciling him in for a bell-cow role. I have my doubts. For one, he's coming off a broken leg in late January 2023. Second, the word on the street is that Pollard won't hold up under a full workload- and that was when he was 100% healthy. And right now he's coming into training camp rehabbing from a broken leg & high ankle sprain. He should be ready, but it's not ideal. Finally, Dallas is even open to bringing Zeke back or signing another free-agent RB to alleviate Pollard's workload. Watch out for Leonard Fournette folks! Fournette's power-rushing style would be a good fit to handle the short-yardage duties. With Pollard's ADP currently at a lofty RB 7, that's pricing him at his ceiling imo. It's too rich for Fantasy Marshall Mark Ringo, despite his explosive playmaking ability. I'll be moseying on to draft another player instead. And for putting up with my awful Western puns. much oblige. Haha! OvervaluedHall is returning from the dreaded torn ACL injury. Most folks need two full years after surgery to feel close to 100%. It's difficult for athletes to come back the following year after having reconstructive knee surgery. How did J.K. Dobbins and Odell Beckham do last year? Exactly. Adrian Peterson is the exception, not the rule. At a minimum, even if Hall plays week one, it's unlikely the Jets give him a full workload. They'll probably put him on a snap count. It doesn't even factor in the possibility that Breece could be put on the PUP list and miss the first six games to start the season. Just like Billy Beane with his Moneyball strategy, I like to play the percentages. Could Hall be the exception to the rule? Sure he could. I hope he (and all players) make a quick and full recovery. But the odds say to pass on players coming back from a torn ACL the following season. Do I care if I draft Breece Hall for his name value? No. I do not. I care that my players are on the field scoring TDs a lot. Now, what we might be able to do is recreate Hall's stats in the aggregate......RBs Zonovan "Bam" Knight & Israel Abanikanda. Who? Exactly. Those guys sound like Mark Ringo sleeper picks already haha! Bottom line- I can't afford Hall's current ADP at RB 12. It's too risky given the odds he's facing. Coming this summer to a fantasy football website near you. Mark Ringo stars in.....Ringoball! Bust

5/8: Only the miniscule Deuce Vaughn has been added so far this offseason, while Zeke remains unsigned (though the team may bring back). The full Pollard unleashing should be coming in an even run-heavier Cowboys attack (Schottenheimer), and Pollard has consistently maintained his efficiency even when the volume spikes (over 30 FPs in his 2 starts the past two seasons) 3/17: To the moon. Zeke officially gone. Even run-heavier scheme. Only anchor to this rocket ship would be if those Bijan Robinson rumors end up being true. For now, treat as a true RB1. 3/7: Officially Franchised. Will benefit from run-heavy philosophy switch, but less explosive offense, same RBBC as last year + recovering from injury makes him less sexy than if he had escaped to elsewhereWithout the injury, Hall may very well have ranked in Round 1 . For now, he's on the RB1 border til we get health updates -- Zonovan, Carter here to ensure the team doesn't rush it (which means a slow start should be expected

FantasyPros
Tony Pollard will play for the Cowboys on the franchise tag in 2023. Ezekiel Elliott has already been released after showing a major lack of juice as a rusher in 2022, averaging a career-low 3.7 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Pollard finished the season as the fantasy RB7 - despite ranking outside the top 25 in touches per game - as PFF's 3rd-highest graded running back. Pollard scored more fantasy points than any other running back (19.3 per game) from Weeks 7-16 when he was consistently playing 53% or more of the snaps as the team's featured back. The team added Ronald Jones in free agency and drafted Deuce Vaughn late on Day 3, but neither are threats to a healthy Pollard's touch volume. There's no denying that Breece Hall possesses the talent to be one of the best running backs in the NFL after a stellar rookie season that was unfortunately cut short by a torn ACL. The Jets' first-year running back was the RB6 in half-PPR points per game in just seven games played (15.4). He averaged 5.8 yards per carry as a rusher and ranked fourth in yards after contact per attempt (4.13) before his season-ending knee injury. Hall also ranked fourth in RB receiving yards while posting an elite 34.4% target rate per route run. The only hesitance with drafting Hall stems from his October ACL injury that can keep guys off the field for nine to 12 months. Although the latest reports suggest that Hall is progressing faster than expected and the team believes he could be ready for training camp. Just do whatever you can to get this guy on your fantasy team.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
The bad news was that Tony Pollard suffered a broken left leg and high ankle sprain in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. The good news is that the recovery is expected to take only 3 months. Pollard should be ready in Week 1 and he should be a great RB1 option with Ezekiel Elliott no longer on the team. The reports on Hall is that his recovery from ACL surgery is going well and he expects to be ready for training camp. Every injury report in January seems to read this way, we won't know until we reach training camp. Hall had 463 yards rushing, 218 yards receiving, and 8 TDs in 7 games last year. If he can avoid the PUP list and see action early, he should be a high-end RB2 to low-end RB1 with tons of upside.
