Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Jacobs received a franchise tag, after posting 1,608 yards rushing, 395 yards receiving, and 12 TDs in the fantasy season. He should be a great RB1 option, provided he does not end up in a contract dispute. | Pollard should be ready in Week 1 coming off a broken left leg and high ankle sprain in the Divisional Round. He should be a great RB1 option with Ezekiel Elliott no longer on the team. |
Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Under new head coach, Josh McDaniels, Josh Jacobs had the best season of his career. It probably didn't hurt that his name was Josh haha! Jacobs finished first in the RB rankings. His current ADP is at RB 6. That seems very risky for someone who is coming off a career year. Jacobs has always had talent, but he's been nicked up in the past. In addition, the Raiders' offensive line is shaky at best. And if anything happens to Jimmy Garoppolo, this offense goes bust. But, what am I saying? You guys are Fantasy Pros (shameless plug). The best. I'm sure you guys have already figured out a way for Jacobs to be worth an ADP of RB 6 even with some of my concerns. Of course, lest we forget, Jimmy hasn't exactly been the picture of perfect health throughout his career and if something happens to him you're stuck with Brian Hoyer or Aidan O'Connell running the offense in the middle of the freakin' desert!!! Remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, except for bad fantasy calls. That stuff will come home with you. Ringo has left the building. Bust | Pollard is an electric RB. He showed his running chops that last season. Many folks have been clamoring for him to be "the guy". With Zeke out of the picture as of this writing in mid-May, most analysts are penciling him in for a bell-cow role. I have my doubts. For one, he's coming off a broken leg in late January 2023. Second, the word on the street is that Pollard won't hold up under a full workload- and that was when he was 100% healthy. And right now he's coming into training camp rehabbing from a broken leg & high ankle sprain. He should be ready, but it's not ideal. Finally, Dallas is even open to bringing Zeke back or signing another free-agent RB to alleviate Pollard's workload. Watch out for Leonard Fournette folks! Fournette's power-rushing style would be a good fit to handle the short-yardage duties. With Pollard's ADP currently at a lofty RB 7, that's pricing him at his ceiling imo. It's too rich for Fantasy Marshall Mark Ringo, despite his explosive playmaking ability. I'll be moseying on to draft another player instead. And for putting up with my awful Western puns. much oblige. Haha! Overvalued |
Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | From breaking fantasy in 2022 to being ranked as my RB-10, what happened? Honestly, Las Vegas happened. I feel like the community is overlooking the dumpster fire that this organization is. Although it was bad last year and Jacobs was great, it's hard to see him having another career year on a Jimmy Garropolo-led offense. This team will be playing from behind frequently, and although we saw Jacobs' pass-catching prowess, in 2021 Garropolo's pass-catching RB had fewer than 40 targets. | Pollard has become the new fantasy darling this offseason. As soon as Ezekiel Elliott was released, it was full steam ahead for the explosive back. Although Zeke could still sign back with the Cowboys, or they could sign another veteran, Pollard is going to be the lead guy. If they do sign another notable back this offseason I will move him down to around RB12. My concern about them signing another back is that even with Zeke losing a step last season and battling injuries, Pollard only surpassed 60% of snaps twice. As a result, I'm worried his perceived workload is not as locked in as many believe. |
Brandon Funston The Athletic | We preach volume is king, and Jacobs wore the crown in 2022 with 404 touches - LV likely to lean on him heavily again in what might be his walk year | Finished RB7 in half-PPR in 2022 despite fewer touches than any other RB in the Top 19 - with Zeke gone, touch volume no longer an issue |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | Officially franchised - ideal for his Fantasy Value to remain in LV. Another workhorse year coming in LV for last year's RB3 | 5/8: Only the miniscule Deuce Vaughn has been added so far this offseason, while Zeke remains unsigned (though the team may bring back). The full Pollard unleashing should be coming in an even run-heavier Cowboys attack (Schottenheimer), and Pollard has consistently maintained his efficiency even when the volume spikes (over 30 FPs in his 2 starts the past two seasons) 3/17: To the moon. Zeke officially gone. Even run-heavier scheme. Only anchor to this rocket ship would be if those Bijan Robinson rumors end up being true. For now, treat as a true RB1. 3/7: Officially Franchised. Will benefit from run-heavy philosophy switch, but less explosive offense, same RBBC as last year + recovering from injury makes him less sexy than if he had escaped to elsewhere |
Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Josh Jacobs was arguably the most valuable fantasy asset during the fantasy football regular season based on his finish as the RB2 overall in relation to his super cheap draft-day ADP. The market was convinced that Jacobs would become part of a dreaded RB-by-committee under new head coach Josh McDaniels, but that was hardly the case. He was a full-blown bellcow for the Raiders leading the NFL in touches through 17 weeks. The 24-year-old is returning to Las Vegas on the franchise tag after leading the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards. With a similar cast of characters returning as depth behind him, it's hard to envision the Raiders not heavily leaning on him again as a true featured back. | Tony Pollard will play for the Cowboys on the franchise tag in 2023. Ezekiel Elliott has already been released after showing a major lack of juice as a rusher in 2022, averaging a career-low 3.7 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Pollard finished the season as the fantasy RB7 - despite ranking outside the top 25 in touches per game - as PFF's 3rd-highest graded running back. Pollard scored more fantasy points than any other running back (19.3 per game) from Weeks 7-16 when he was consistently playing 53% or more of the snaps as the team's featured back. The team added Ronald Jones in free agency and drafted Deuce Vaughn late on Day 3, but neither are threats to a healthy Pollard's touch volume. |
