Brandon Funston The Athletic | At age 32, posted his 3rd season with at least 90 catches, 1,100 receiving yards and 9 TDs - no other TE in the history of the NFL has done that more than once | Hit rarified rookie TE air with 1,026 rec. yards and 20% TeamTarget share, which should only rise with WRs Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage out of the picture in 2022 |
Justin Lampkin Clock Management Fantasy Football | Kelce has been arguably the best TE in the NFL for years but we may be seeing a changing of the guard with Kyle Pitts. I think his numbers fall, with the loss of Tyreek Hill he will see more double coverages but his skill will still keep him among the top TE's. | Believe the hype! This man is going to break TE records for the next 10 years and I want him on my fantasy team for all of them. Pitts is the option #1 and #2. |
Derek Brown FantasyPros | Kyle Pitts lived up to all of the hype last season. Pitts ranked third in receiving yards and eighth in receptions among all tight ends. In deeper metrics, he was elite, ranking fourth in targets per snap and yards per route run (minimum 50 targets, per PFF). Since 2018 the only rookie tight end to finish their inaugural season with a higher yards per route run has been Albert Okwuegbunam (minimum 15 targets, per PFF). Pitts finished as the TE11 in fantasy points per game as the eyesore of only one receiving touchdown drug down his fantasy value. Pitts has TE1 overall upside if the touchdowns bounce back in a big way in 2022.
Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | After finishing as the fantasy TE1 for three straight seasons, Travis Kelce was finally de-throned by Mark Andrews in 2021. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end posted his worst points per game average (16.6) dating back to 2017 while also posting a career-low in yards per route run (1.84) and PFF grade (81.8). It seems logical that Kelce's reign as the perennial consensus TE1 has come to a conclusion as he enters his age-33 season in 2022. However, it's impossible to ignore the high-end target share that Kelce will command in the Chiefs offense after they traded Tyreek Hill. His 20% target share ranked second-best at the position in 2021. Although it was a slight fall-off from his 23% average target share from 2019 and 2020. | If Kyle Pitts' ADP is lower than it was in 2021, he will be a screaming value. At just 21 years old, Pitts finished third among tight ends in receiving yards (1,018) through 17 weeks of the season and third in route participation (80%) through 18 weeks. The rookie fell short of lofty preseason expectations, though, as he scored just one touchdown. Any other pass-catcher that compiled at least 1,000 receiving yards caught at least four touchdowns. And per PFF's expected fantasy points model, the Falcons tight end should have scored 5.6 touchdowns. With positive regression for Year 2 in his favor, draft the uber-talented Pitts aggressively everywhere in 2022. |
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Kelce was not quite as good in 2021, but still finished the fantasy season with 1,094 yards from scrimmage and 9 touchdowns. Given his durability and consistency, he is still one of the safest fantasy picks in the NFL and will be the focal point of this offense with Tyreek Hill in Miami. | The good news for Pitts is that he is a slam-dunk TE1 due to a 1000-yard rookie campaign, the first by a rookie tight end since Mike Ditka did that in 1961 in a 14-game schedule. The downside is Pitts scored only one touchdown, which needs to improve if he is going to be an elite fantasy tight end. |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | Huge winner of Tyreek Hill Trade as Mahomes' main trusted weapon
Pat Fitzmaurice FantasyPros | Was the highest PPR fantasy scorer among tight ends for five consecutive years before Mark Andrews finally toppled him in 2021. Kelce has topped 1,000 yards for six straight seasons. He'll turn 33 in October, though we've seen no signs of decline. | Pitts became the first rookie TE to top 1,000 receiving yards since Mike Ditka in 1961. With the Falcons punchless at WR, opponents routinely had their top CBs cover Pitts, and he produced anyway. Pitts' freakish athleticism gives him intoxicating upside. He scored only one touchdown in 2021, but the TDs will come. |
