Andrew Erickson FantasyPros | Treylon Burks dealt with numerous injuries throughout his rookie campaign but showed flashes of WR1 ability from Week 10 onward. In his final six healthy games played, Burks led the Titans in targets and receiving yards. He earned 6-plus targets in all but two games and eclipsed 66-plus receiving yards in half the contests. In the 3 games started with Ryan Tannehill Weeks 10-12, Burks was very productive. Team-high 21% target share, 11.5 PPR points per game and 2.56 yards per route run. With the 2022 TEN leaders in overall targets and red-zone target - Robert Woods, Austin Hopper - gone from the roster, Burks should see ample opportunities in his second year for volume and TDs.
Ellis Johnson True North Fantasy Football | I'll be honest, I was not in on Burks last season. However, when he played I was pleasantly surprised with what he managed to do with mediocre QB play. Despite being riddled with injuries and asthma issues, Burks managed to show splashes of deep play ability. The Titans are stuck with Tannehill for at least another year, and we saw that he was able to support A.J. Brown. Not that Burks is Brown, but he should find himself with enough volume to be a weekly WR-three play.
Mark Ringo Sleepers and Busts | Last year I said Diontae Johnson was getting the press by fantasy football fans, but it was George Pickens who was the most talented WR on the Steelers. Pickens quickly ascended from WR #3 to the Steelers' defacto WR #1 go-to guy. That's not meant as a knock on Diontae. He's a good WR. I just think Pickens is a great one. The concern this year with Pickens isn't his talent, it's his situation. Can Kenny Pickett take the next step at QB? The Steelers upgraded their offensive line with veteran OL Isaac Semualo and rookie LT Broderick Jones. They also drafted TE Darnell Washington. Those moves will definitely help. I'm just not sure Pickett can take the next step to be a franchise QB. despite that, Pickens's current price tag of WR #37 still seems like a good value based on his talent alone. However, keep in mind the Steelers' QB situation could cap his upside. Undervalued Ringo's comp- A.J. Green in his prime
Derek Brown FantasyPros | Pickens had some standout moments in his rookie season, including highlight-reel catches and shadow realm run blocking reps. Still, overall if you were banking on him to be a major fantasy producer, you were probably disappointed. Pickens logged six weeks with top-24 fantasy finishes, but outside of those weeks, he was unstartable with also eight weeks of WR50 or lower fantasy production. With Allen Robinson on the roster, expect the Steelers to utilize three wide receiver sets heavily. In Weeks 1-8, with the team heavily deploying 11 personnel, Pickens had a 15.1% target share, a 26% air yard share, and 1.19 yards per route run. He barely eclipsed a 15% target per route run rate. Pickens is a WR4/5 that could be the fourth option in a Kenny Pickett-led passing attack. | Treylon Burks is staring down a sophomore season with tons of opportunities at his disposal to put his disappointing rookie season in the past. Burks saw a 17.6% target share last season while ranking 35th in air-yard share and 32nd in yards per route run. While none of these numbers will inspire confidence in Burks entering year two, his 17th-ranked route win rate and 24th-ranked open rate (tied with Marquise Brown, per ESPN analytics) should. Burks enters the offseason with only Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Kyle Philips, and Chigoziem Okonkwo to compete for targets in 2023. Burks falls in the WR3/4 bucket, but he could easily crush that expectation. |
Wolf of Roto Street Roto Street Journal | 5/8: ARob SHOULDN'T be a threat. But that doesn't mean he might not be... eeeek. | 5/8: No real competition added in draft, faces minimal interference for true WR1 duties after some impressive glimpses during his rookie season. Glimpses of studliness could become a full season's worth in 2023 |
