Whether or not Green is healthy, Boyd is going to be peppered with targets. We saw last year he can play, but now he'll explode.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
The loss of Doug Baldwin will surely open up some targets for Lockett, and the best part is that they'll come where he's most effective. Lockett has posted the third-best numbers in the league from the slot over the last two years behind only Tyreek Hill and A.J. Green. In the games that Baldwin missed all/most of in 2018, Lockett played in the slot on 59.4 percent of his snaps. His efficiency will have a hard time remaining as high as it was in 2018, but his increased snaps in the slot can help make up for itIt's like everyone forgot how good A.J. Green is/was, and now he's dropping down draft boards while Boyd is skyrocketing up them. It's not to say Boyd will return to the waiver wire fodder he was his first two seasons in the league where he scored 15 PPR points just twice in 26 games, but he's not going to return to the player who saw seven or more targets in 9-of-14 games with Green back in the lineup. Do we really believe Andy Dalton can support two consistent top-24 receivers? That's what you're banking on with Boyd, because we know Green will be there if healthy. The only time Dalton has produced two top-30 receivers was in 2014, when Green missed three games, allowing Mohamed Sanu to finish as the WR29. It's not to say it's not possible Boyd takes a leap in the new offense, but he's being drafted at/near his ceiling without a Green injury
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
He had a perfect passer rating on his targets, and he was No. 1 in FAN PTS per target - with Doug Baldwin gone, he should see a fair amount more targets (100+?) this season as clear go-to guy
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Lockett really came into his own last year, scoring 10 touchdowns and setting career-highs across the board. With Doug Baldwin gone and with few other (healthy) options at receiver, the Seahawks are likely to lean heavily on Lockett in the passing game. But with how much Seattle runs the ball, Lockett will need to again pile on the touchdowns to come near the value he provided last year. As the No. 1 option with an elite quarterback, however, Lockett is an easy WR2.The casual fantasy owner probably thinks that Boyd's breakout in 2018 was because of A.J. Green's injury. But Boyd was nearly as productive with Green on the field. Either way, Green is already battling an injury that will force him to miss multiple games, so Boyd should see plenty of targets. There's little else in the Bengals' receiving group, so particularly early in the season, Boyd should be highly productive.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Lockett had 965 yards and 10 TDs on ONLY 90 TARGETS last season. Lockett will now mostly to be a slot WR, taking the place of Baldwin (played there 60% last year when Baldwin was out). Lockett led the league with a 89.7 catch% in the slot last season and Doug Baldwin was being drafted in the 2nd/3rd round not too long ago in the same role. Wilson is one of the most efficient passers in the league - 2nd in True Throw Value last season - so give me his #1 WR even in a run-heavy O.Andy Dalton's True Throw Value last season before getting hurt was .481. That puts him above league average and sandwiches him between Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers. If we look at QBs in a similar TTV tier, we see Cousins - who supported Theilen and Diggs, Rodgers - Who supported Adams and Allison/MVS, then Newton and Brady, two guys who don't necessarily support two startable WRs at this stage in their career. It's going to come down to target share for Tyler Boyd (Which will obviously be effected by AJ Green's health).
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Tyler Boyd was a stud last year and I don't really understand his ADP. In 14 games last season he totaled 1028 yards and 7 TDs on 108 targets. He became a consistent weekly WR2 and he was also utilized in the red zone. I called Robert Woods last season as a must have WR at ADP. Boyd is my 2019 Woods.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Lockett had just 70 targets last year and before Baldwin came back, he was the secondary target behind Brandon Marshall. Lockett isn't primary weapon, nor will he likely become one. He is still a WR3, but is being vastly overdrafted with over optimistic expectations about his transition to an entirely different type of receiver.Boyd just signed a four-year extension with the Bengals which means Zac Taylor must have big plans for him. A.J. Green is still the number one and will be back within a handful of weeks and Andy Dalton can only create so many fantasy points, but Boyd is a strong bet to finish as a WR3.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Lockett is going to be an interesting player to watch this preseason. I can't tell yet where his ADP ends up, but I have a feeling a lot will depend on how D.K. Metcalf does during the preseason. If Metcalf looks bad, and Lockett is clearly the top option, then I expect his ADP to fall somewhere in the 4th round. If that's the case, then I'll likely pass. He's not a bad pick in that range, but it takes away a lot of his upside. Remember, last season Wilson had a perfect passer rating when targeting him, so there's going to be regression on a per play basis. He currently holds the 25th highest projection according to my model, and I'm comfortable drafting Lockett in the mid to late 5th round. Unfortunately, he's usually not still on the board.I will not be drafting Tyler Boyd this season. His ADP is a bit too high for the third option in an Andy Dalton offense. A.J. Green is back, Mixon will get his touches...and I expect John Ross to at least take a small step forward this season. If you like Boyd then you better be drafting Andy Dalton, because the only way Boyd pays off his ADP is if Dalton goes off.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Lockett showed a lot of promise last year with 57 receptions for 965 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is the lead receiver in Seattle at this point and he should have WR2 upside.Boyd had a breakout year with 1,026 yards receiving and 7 receiving touchdowns. He should be a WR3 with upside in a new offense this year.
