Montgomery began the year as the starting running back and did extremely well, before succumbing to injuries. With Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones showing they can be successful as starting running backs, Montgomery's long-term future is murky. As for Williams and Jones (when he returns), the absence of Montgomery only enhances their value going forward, obviously.
