The Chargers weren't planning on having Gates this past season but they re-signed him once Hunter Henry tore his ACL. Henry should be all systems go for 2019 so Gates would merely be his backup if he returns to Los Angeles. The 38-year-old hauled in 28 receptions and two touchdowns this year.
