This news is a bit shocking given the hole that the Patriots have at TE following the retirement of Rob Gronkowski. However, the team also has veteran Ben Watson on the roster, and he would be poised to enter the season as the team's top option at the position. Other TEs on the roster include Matt LaCosse, Ryan Izzo, Stephen Anderson, and Andrew Beck.
