Matt Cavanaugh hired as QBs coach

Robert Griffin III (QB - FA)

The Washington Redskins have hired Matt Cavanaugh to be their quarterbacks coach. (Washington Post)

Fantasy Impact
Seems like a great hire, as Cavanaugh has a dearth of experience to draw from. He spent 14 years as an NFL backup quarterback with the Pats, 49ers, and Eagles, and 22 years as an offensive coordinator and QBs coach. Cavanaugh will step in and be Jay Gruden's first QBs coach, since Gruden went without one in 2014. Cavanaugh implied that part of QB Robert Griffin III's problem has been that he has been coached and criticized from too many people throughout the Redskins' organization and it would be best if one person, Cavanaugh, could be Griffin's point of contact for feedback and coaching. Griffin was 1-5 in the six complete games he played this season, showing basic problems like poor footwork and dropbacks, and not going through his progressions. Let's hope Cavanaugh can restore Griffin back to his former self, for Griffin's own sake.
