GM anticipates a breakout year for Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford (QB - LAR)

In 2014, Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford increased his wins and completion percentage while throwing less interceptions, but it was hard to ignore that the Lions' offense was less potent than in recent years. Detroit Lions' GM Martin Mayhew admits that the transition into the new offensive system was slower than he had expected, but he believes that the entire offense will take a huge step forward next year. Specifically, he believes that Matthew Stafford and OC Joe Lombardi are on the same page now, and we can expect the return of his prolific offensive statistics in 2015. (mLive.com)

Fantasy Impact
It would be surprising to hear anything else from Mayhew at this point, but it is definitely encouraging to hear that he doesn't think that we are seeing a "new" Matt Stafford that puts up pedestrian numbers. The Lions have a lot of question marks this offseason, but there should be very little shuffling among his key offensive weapons. Don't be surprised if Stafford has a big year.
