Keith Rivers joins the Cowboys defense

by Chris Zolli | Thu, Mar 5th 9:34am EST

The Cowboys are trying to rebuild what could be a very different defense in 2015, adding veteran linebacker Keith Rivers. The Cowboys could lose Rolando McClain, Bruce Carter, and Justin Durant in free agency, but have Sean Lee returning from injury in the linebacker corps. (Pro Football Talk)

Fantasy Impact:

The Cowboys did rank eighth in rush defense in 2014, but they struggled with pressuring the QB and in passing defense. Rivers may not be able to provide stability, he has only played 74 games in seven years, but his veteran presence could provide support and depth for the Cowboys. If all things work out for the Cowboys, Rivers should be a backup linebacker, providing depth to what can be a strength for the Cowboys. Rivers' best season was 2010 with the Bengals where he had 77 tackles and a sack.
