The Patriots signed veteran RB Lamar Miller to a one-year deal Monday as the team is unsure Michel will be ready by the opener. He is recovering from offseason surgery on his foot and was placed on the PUP list last week. There is no timetable for his return, but the Patriots are unsure he will be fully recovered by Week 1. If Michel is out an extended period of time, look for Damien Harris and Lamar Miller to compete for carries in the Patriots’ backfield. The 25-year-old logged 247 carries for 912 yards and seven touchdowns across 16 games in 2019. Michel is currently 32nd among all running backs in the latest expert rankings.
