Austin Ekeler’s (hamstring) return not imminent

Austin Ekeler (RB - WAS)

When asked about RB Austin Ekeler (hamstring) and his return to play, Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn told reporters that he’ll be back “later rather than sooner,” and that the injury is “very serious.” (Daniel Popper on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact
Ekeler is eligible to return in Week 8 off IR, but based on Lynn’s comments it doesn’t seem like his return is imminent. There was some optimism recently surrounding Ekeler after he posted a video of him working out on a stationary bike, but he’ll need full clearance from the medical staff prior to putting on the pads. Consider Ekeler week-to-week, but be prepared to be without him for another few weeks. In the meantime, Justin Jackson should be considered a solid RB2, while Joshua Kelley should be considered a flex play while Ekeler is sidelined.
