After missing minicamp, Howard showed up for training camp but has now stated he’s requested a trade. In 2018, he signed a five-year, $75.25 million extension that he now claims he “didn’t completely understand, or feel comfortable with”. The All-Pro cornerback feels he’s “significantly outperformed that deal”. While he doesn’t have much leverage, it’s been reported that the Dolphins would need at least a first-round pick to trade him. He will continue to show up and handle himself like a professional as he stated in his post, so he doesn’t “get fined”. Teams are no longer allowed to forgive fines. He’ll remain a Dolphin for now, but the question is for how long.
