Kansas City Chiefs RB Darwin Thompson carried eight times for 49 yards and hauled in two receptions for seven yards during a 17-10 preseason Week 2 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Friday.

Thompson enters his third year in the league with the Chiefs and looked solid with his opportunity, averaging 6.1 YPC and hauling in both of his targets. It's a crowded backfield led by Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and a lot of the passing work could go to Jerick McKinnon in 2021, so Thompson should be left on league waiver wires unless Edwards-Helaire's ankle injury suffered on Friday turns out to be worse than expected.
