Joshua Kelley favored in competition for No. 2 role

Joshua Kelley (RB - LAC)

Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports that Los Angeles Chargers running back Joshua Kelley is the current favorite to back up Austin Ekeler in 2022. (The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact
Kelley currently has the edge over Larry Rountree III and promising rookie Isaiah Spiller as the team prepares for its second of three preseason games. He looked good during Week 1, racking up 44 yards from scrimmage on six touches, and has also impressed in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 work during camp. With Ekeler due for some regression, the Chargers may look to incorporate some of their backup running backs a bit more this coming season. Kelley, who totaled just 140 scrimmage yards through 10 games during his second year in the NFL, ranks 83rd among running backs in the latest ECR.
